Today we’d like to introduce you to Keon Gaynor.
Hi Keon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always enjoyed movies since I was a kid. From watching films like breakfast club to goodfellas. I would say I started late 2018, and seriously pursuing in 2019. It wasn’t till my third film the ball started rolling. I met someone who would later become my best friend (Tyrese Saint-Cyr). Who introduced me to an acting class that I take to this day. This then led to me getting representation through an agency. After doing many films and commercials, I realized 2-3 years ago that filmmaking was the next step to take to further my career. We’ve been able to have a successful film festival run. And currently have two projects in post production and one in preproduction.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say there’s been some challenges.
1. Juggling acting career with survival jobs
2. Being ok with the uncertainty of booking gigs
3. Knowing how to apply for roles
4. Finding the right class and agents
5. Mainly, always knowing what’s the next step
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor and filmmaker. Best way I tell people is I am primarily an actor and secondary filmmaker. Aside from my acting abilities, my favorite thing to do in film is writing. I always enjoyed telling stories. My proudest achievement so far was making a film with my friend, and it getting accepted into Miami film festival. Which then they reached out to us to create a membership marketing ad for them.
