Check Out Kelly Gonzalez Wilder’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Gonzalez Wilder.

Hi Kelly , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Fitness has always been more than exercise to me, it has been a way to build confidence, resilience, and purpose. I began my career as a personal trainer because I genuinely love helping people realize they’re capable of so much more than they think. Over the years, I earned certifications in personal training, nutrition & physique and bodybuilding from NASM and I’ve had the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life, from beginners to athletes.

My own journey eventually led me to bodybuilding, which challenged me in ways I never expected. Preparing for the stage taught me discipline, patience, and consistency, but it also reminded me that growth happens just as much mentally as it does physically. During my first competitive season, I was fortunate enough to place top 3 & top 5 at my first show and top 5 at Nationals, my second show, an achievement that reinforced the value of trusting the process and showing up every single day.

Today, I’m passionate about empowering others to become stronger, not just physically, but mentally & emotionally. Whether I’m coaching clients or community events, developing fitness programs or continuing to grow as an athlete myself, my mission remains the same: to educate, inspire, and help people build sustainable confidence through health and fitness. I think true success isn’t measured by a number on the scale or a trophy on the shelf, it’s measured by the person you become through the journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change it. Building a career in fitness requires long hours, constant learning, and the willingness to keep showing up even when the progress feels slow. Bodybuilding introduced a different set of challenges. The physical demands are obvious, but the mental side is what surprised me the most. There were days when self-doubt crept in, moments where I questioned whether i was improving enough, and the challenge of balance prep with work, relationships and everyday life. Learning to trust the process even, when the results weren’t immediate, became one of my greatest lessons.,

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had is realizing success isn’t linear. There will always be setbacks, criticism, and moments where things don’t go as planned. Instead of seeing those moments as failures, I’ve learned to view them as opportunities to grow. Every obstacle has made me a better coach because I’ve experienced firsthand what it means to persevere, adapt, and keep moving forward.

Today, I don’t strive for perfection, I strive for progress. That’s the same mindset I encourage in every client I work with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of Kurves by Kells, a fitness brand dedicated to helping people build strength, confidence, and sustainable healthy habits. As a NASM certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, bodybuilding coach & competitive NPC Bikini athlete, I have a passion for helping people become the strongest version of themselves. While I work with clients of all fitness levels, I specialize in strength training, body recompositing, and helping women build confidence both inside and outside of the gym. I think fitness should be empowering, educational, and sustainable.

Beyond one-on-one coaching, I’ve had the opportunity to coach group fitness for over 3 years, host multiple community fitness events with a variety of brands over the years & mentor others within the fitness industry. Every role has allowed me to connect with people in different ways, but the mission has always remained the same: helping others become healthier, stronger, and more confident.

What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve had on the people I’ve coached. Watching a client achieve something they once thought was impossible is far more rewarding than any other personal achievement. Seeing others realize their potential is what continues to inspire me every day.

I think what sets me apart is that I lead by example. I don’t ask my clients to do anything I’m not willing to do myself. As a competitive athlete, I’ve experienced the discipline, setbacks, sacrifices, and victories that come with pursuing ambitious goals. That experience allows me to coach with empathy, authenticity, and a deep understanding that every fitness journey is unique. Whether I’m coaching one-on-one teaching group fitness, competing on stage, or growing Kurves by Kells, my goal is always the same: to educate, inspire and empower others to become the strongest version of themselves.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things I love most about Miami is its energy. It’s a city that inspires you to dream bigger and work harder, As someone in the fitness industry, Ive also found an incredible sense of community here. There are so many opportunities to connect with people who are passionate about health, wellness, and personal growth, and I’ve also been fortunate to build meaningful friendships through coaching, bodybuilding, and community events,

If I had to choose one thing I like least, it would be the traffic! Anyone who lives in Miami knows that getting across town can sometimes take much longer than expected. But even with that challenge, I wouldn’t trade the opportunities, diversity, and vibrant community this city has to offer. Miami has played a huge role in both my personal and professional growth and as a naive. I’m grateful to call it home.
