Check Out JUSTIN NETO’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to JUSTIN NETO.

Hi JUSTIN, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Dance has always been present in my life. Throughout my entire childhood, I was inspired by Brazilian artists like Xuxa, Carla Perez, and many other Brazilian performers who inspired me when I was young. Then, as I grew older, I started being strongly influenced by Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. Since I was born in the late ’80s, most of my greatest influences come from the ’90s onward.

Nowadays, I am still a huge admirer of Britney Spears, she continues to be my greatest muse and inspirational diva; but also Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Anitta, and many other pop artists. Dance has always touched me in a unique way, and today I have the opportunity to work with this art form and inspire other people to dance and move as well.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were many obstacles along the way, but I always like to remember them with a lot of appreciation because it was through those challenges that I became certain that dance was what I wanted to dedicate my life to. Those obstacles helped me mature not only professionally, but especially as a person, as a human being.
I always like to remember the many obstacles, but I also like to remember them with appreciation.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a college degree as well. In Brazil, I graduated in Physical Education, which is the qualification that allows you to work as a teacher or instructor in physical activities in general, such as weight training, fitness classes, dance classes, and everything related to sports. So in Brazil, this degree is called Physical Education. That is my degree, and I also have a specialization in exercise physiology because I always wanted to truly understand how exercise functions physiologically within our bodies. I have always tried to connect that knowledge to dance, which has always been my main focus.

I have been dancing since I was very young, as I mentioned before, and I have participated in many workshops and specialized trainings over the years. At this point, I would also like to include that I always seek inspiration from many pop artists, as I mentioned earlier. But I also really trust my intuition, especially after having so many years of experience with dance and experimenting with different styles and references. Nowadays, I like to follow my intuition, which basically means that I often go into classes without even knowing yet which choreography I’m going to teach. Of course, I already have many choreographies prepared, but I never know in advance which one I’ll actually teach. I always follow the energy of the audience and the intuition that guides me toward the direction that class should take.

My classes are always filled with positivity, joy, and uplifting energy because that is the main goal. So, speaking a little more about my work, my inspirations, and my creativity, I would say that intuition is truly my foundation.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Throughout my journey, I have had many people who inspired me — both well-known public figures and everyday people. Obviously, I always like to start with my family because they are my foundation. I’m also grateful for all of my teachers, from childhood and school all the way through college.

I don’t really have one specific person who completely changed my life because I see my journey as a combination of many different pieces, and each one has its own importance. There wasn’t just one person who transformed everything for me because I truly don’t believe that one single person alone has the power to completely change someone’s life. They can absolutely play a major role or have a special impact, but I believe in valuing every collaboration, whether small or large, because all of them are part of a bigger plan.

So I don’t really have one name to mention as “the great revolutionary” of my career. However, whenever I have the opportunity to talk about my work and mention well-known references — because I know that is often important for interviews and articles — I always like to mention Brazilian artists that I admire deeply and who were very positive influences throughout my journey, especially through opportunities to work with them. Those would be the model Gisele Bündchen, the singer Anitta, and the singer Ivete Sangalo. I always enjoy mentioning them because they are wonderful people, while also making it clear that I am deeply grateful for everyone else who has been and continues to be part of my life.
