Hi Joshua , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born in Northern Minnesota, renowned artist Joshua Clyde was introduced to the world of art at a very young age by his mother, who is also an artist. His passion for art blossomed as he watched Bob Ross every day and began learning through landscape drawings and paintings at the age of 5. Throughout his school years, he quickly became the go-to artist, showcasing his talent by freehand field painting the endzones and 50-yard line mascot logos on the football field before game days, all while excelling as a running back on the football team.
Upon graduating, Joshua wasted no time and moved to Fort Lauderdale to pursue his education at the prestigious Art Institute of FTL. After completing his art school journey, he embarked on a career at Harbor Beach Marriott as a Supervisor of Recreation. It was here that he delved into the world of corporate art for company events, showcasing his ability to recreate corporate logos on a large scale on the beach for all to admire from the balconies and resort terraces.
Initially focusing on sand painting, Joshua was thrust into the world of sand sculpting when he was asked to repair a damaged sculpture created by a professional sculptor in the hotel lobby. Turning a broken castle into a swimming dolphin, he impressed both the hotel and the client, leading to the birth of his dual threat sand art career. This opportunity allowed him to hone his skills quickly, working alongside professionals and learning from the best in the industry.
Since 2007, Joshua The Sandman Clyde has been creating stunning sand art and murals for various clients and events. In 2010, he established his own business and became the official contract artist for the resort, in addition to collaborating with hundreds of other companies and events. Like many entrepreneurs starting out, the initial stages of my career presented challenges as I navigated the ebbs and flows of securing consistent income between projects. However, as time passed and my reputation in the industry flourished, I have been fortunate to experience a steady influx of requests and projects on a weekly basis throughout the year. This sustained demand for my work is a testament to the dedication and passion I pour into each and every artistic endeavor, solidifying my presence in the realm of artistry.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
everything i create is made via freehand by eye, sculpting and even the large scale sand paintings, that can at times be over 150 feet wide. I’m always holding the reference in in my left hand and creating with my right.
Another fun fact is I never advertised my business once during the first 14 years I received all of my request and jobs by only word-of-mouth and social media.
