Check Out Joel Freis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Freis.

Hi Joel , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a Realtor for over 20 years. I started out at a small mom-and-pop shop in Hialeah, where I learned the importance of prospecting and building a business from the ground up. From there, I moved to Coldwell Banker and later to RE/MAX, where I gained experience in foreclosures and really sharpened my skills. That’s also where I met my current business partner, Denise Madan. We’ve been working together for over seven years. Our partnership began when she brought me in to help with a hedge fund purchasing a large portfolio of residential real estate. Today, we’re with Real Broker LLC, a virtual platform where agents are also owners, sharing in profits and benefiting from stock options.`

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any business, it’s been a journey with ups and downs. In the beginning, I had to master the sales skills needed to succeed, and over time I built a strong business. But like many others, I took a step back during the Great Recession. That challenge actually opened the door for me to learn the REO side of real estate, where I was fortunate to gain valuable clients. Then, as the market rebounded and foreclosures faded, I had to shift gears again and go back to basics, rebuilding my retail business. The one constant in real estate is change, and adaptability has been key.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my tenacity and for always getting the job done. I live by the principle of under-promising and over-delivering. Too many agents make big promises to win business and then fall short — I’d rather set realistic expectations and exceed them. I also own several rental properties, and I love bringing that investment knowledge to clients and colleagues. Over the years, I’ve inspired other agents to buy their own investment properties, which has been rewarding to see.

How do you define success?
For me, success is simple: it’s doing what you say you’ll do. Never make promises you can’t keep just to win business. Success is also about continuously setting goals, pushing yourself to learn more, and striving to grow — both personally and professionally.

Pricing:

  • Not over pricing is critical. Especially in the current market.
  • I have found listings that are overpriced can go stale and ultimately sell for less that had they been priced correctly from the start.
