Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeramy Pritchett.
Hi Jeramy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My wife has been a part of the business for over 28 years. First working the front desk while in Grad School. Then becoming a partner and then for the last 20 years being a sole owner. Unfortunately, she was hit by a car walking across the street about 15 years ago and really struggled with her health after that. So, I stepped in about 10 years ago and started running the day to day, while she continued to handle the back office, marketing, and all the other little things that only people that own business know about. The plan was for me to be involved for a couple years until we found a full time manager, but that never happened, as it became a good fit for me and my wife.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I know that for the first 18 years my wife ran the business she dealt with so many struggles that again, only another business owner could truly appreciate. As for me it has brought different struggles. I had managed people in prior positions, but never 30 women in a field I knew absolutely nothing about or cared about. Learning about the beauty industry, products, techniques, etc took some time and honestly I am still learning. Going through Covid was quite a challenge, but ended up being great for our business, because of the way our governor handled things as opposed to other states. But mainly dealing with staffing issues and review sites has been the biggest challenges. I have prided myself on always doing my best for our employees, even when they didn’t see it that way and I have built some great, almost family type relationships with many on staff. The review sites should all be taken down, in my humble opinion. Nobody is a true expert and you never know exactly what is going on in a business or with an employee that may have caused a less than stellar performance. And , the general public has no idea how hard it is to run a successful business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Before I took over managing Eden, I published a magazine, Blindfold, that was in all the Barnes and Nobles and Whole Foods in all of the US and Canada. I was the Editor, I wrote and photographed some of the articles, and I also helped to build the ad revenue. The magazine was focused on people trying to make the world a better place through a variety of different avenues. We featured many celebrities and regular people. I think this endeavor helps me everyday at the spa as I am trying to give every client that enters the spa a little bit better life through their visits at Eden. We really do believe we are in the service of our customers and our goal is to make them leave feeling better than when they entered.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
All the success of the spa goes to my wife, Darcie, and the systems she has built over the years. She has literally put everything into making Eden Day Spa the best spa it can possibly be. And that translates into all the great employees we have. Most of our staff has been with us for over 10 years and takes as much pride in the spa as my wife and I.
