Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay.
Hi Jay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Jay, the founder of Ninety 6ix Freestyles and Ninety 6ix. The main reason I started this platform is because I know the struggles of being an artist and not getting the exposure you deserve. I used to be an artist myself, and it always felt like you could only make it if you knew the right people. I wanted to change that.
Ninety 6ix was built to give talented artists a real platform to be seen, heard, and appreciated regardless of their background, numbers, or connections. My goal is to create opportunities for upcoming artists and help bridge the gap between talent and exposure.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been smooth. We’ve had artists say they want to book with us and not show up, and we’ve had major brands talk about collaborating without following through. But setbacks like that won’t stop the vision. Every challenge is part of the journey, and it only motivates me to work harder.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We started off filming locally with music artists in Croydon, London, giving upcoming talent a platform to showcase their freestyle videos. Since then, the journey has grown far beyond what we imagined.
We’ve travelled to Saint Lucia, working with major artists and incredible talent, collaborated with a platform in Trinidad, and recently released an album featuring over 40 artists worldwide from 18 different Caribbean islands.
What started as a local platform has now become an international movement connecting artists, cultures, and opportunities across the world. And we’re only getting started, this September, we’ll be heading to Jamaica to continue working with artists and expanding the vision even further.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favourite childhood memory was travelling to the Caribbean with my family every year, we used to visit Bahamas all the time and I think since being from the Caribbean myself I love travelling.
