Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamila Fraser.
Hi Jamila, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My baking journey officially started with the pandemic. I’ve always wanted to start my own business however, I was not sure what it would be. My grandma played such a huge role in this craft. I had no idea watching her bake while I was growing up. I’d be the granddaughter who carried on this tradition. Ever since I baked my youngest son’s first birthday cake, I’ve kept myself motivated and I’ve been growing consistently ever since.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with believing in my talent however, overtime I’ve grown so much confidence wish has also contributed to the growth of my business. The road definitely wasn’t smooth & still isn’t but when you love what you do, it makes a huge difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Pastry Chef. I specialize in making pastries and treats eg. Birthday cakes, cupcakes, chocolate-covered strawberries, cheesecake shooters, etc. I’m most proud of the feedback I receive from my customers after each purchase, that always have me feeling accomplished. What’s sets me apart from others is my creativity, my precision, my drive and determination to excel beyond my own expectations.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learnt that you can always find something beautiful from a bad situation because even with the pandemic, I can say my business has been a blessing.
