Check Out Jalisa Hordens’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalisa Hordens.

Hi Jalisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started this business in effort to help others that may be suffering for similar experience as me. I suffer from alopecia since I was 6 years old. I had difficulty time with self-confidence and recognizing my beauty. Over years, I found ways to increase my confidence which was through hair; sew-Ins, making wigs and etc… I started practicing on my own head and became great at it. Many people in the surrounding areas saw my work and was inquiring about my skill. I decided that I wasn’t the only woman out here is suffering from this disease process or lack of self-beauty. I was gifted with the ability to make others feel as beautiful as they do from the inside out. Now, it is time to share my gift with the world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This new journey has not been easy. It’s one thing to have the skills, however, it is another thing to market yourself to the rest of the world. The mentality of just jumping out there was in fact difficult. I did not have any background in forming a business, let along marketing my business. It required more learning, more investment to increase my knowledge based on specific areas to strive in this hair industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialized in making custom glueless wigs for the everyday working women. As a registered nurse, a mom, and a wife; I was limited to how much time I can spend on keeping up my hair. I then increased my skills to construct wigs that does not require a lot time installing and with no hassle removing it.

The one thing I am proud of by far is my ability to continue to evolve. As a self-taught wig maker, I have seen tremendous improvement in my work and quality.

What set me apart from the rest is my passion and love I instill in every wig I created and the experience I serve with each customer’s journey. I strive to make each individual that invested in my craft top priority. Once they hit the button to buy, there are no longer a customer. We are now friends. Each person will experience a different experience based on their needs and desires. However, the goal is for each one to leave with more than they requested.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am very down-to-earth type of person with silly personality and a huge heart. Most people that have encountered with me seem to believe that I am shy and to myself. However, over the years and through experiences, I have learned to be observant and choose the people I want in my circle, or shall I say to get to experience all of me because I have so much to offer.
