Check Out Jake DeSalle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake DeSalle.

Jake DeSalle

Hi Jake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was 10 years old I’ve been saying “I want to be an artist when I grow up.” I’ve always been inclined in the arts & being creative. I’m basically a self taught artist. When I was 27 I created the moniker “JMORESUN” to pursue my creative endeavors. What started as a venture playing original guitar compositions at various miami venues like las Rosa’s and Churchills pub, I would eventually begin selling artwork at these venues and ultimately solely focus on creating visual works of art nowadays. My sun character was born out of a love for life. A tribute to our sunny city and state. I mainly paint with acrylic paints on canvas, often incorporating spray paint. I’ve created hundreds of paintings and sold many. Including 9 murals to date! I aim to become a full time artist so I can travel the world with my son painting murals and sharing my passion. I quit drinking alcohol 7 years ago and am enjoying a sober lifestyle. My goal is to earn a million with my art career before having another sip of alcohol. I am now 35 with a 14 y.o son. I love showing him the importance of pursuing your goals & dreams/ ambitions. Stay tuned for more, I’ve only just begun.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main struggle are financial. Yet despite a lack of art sales , I never allow that deter me from picking up a paintbrush creating what I want, when I want.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in pop art/ abstract art/ caricature parody art.

I love to paint cartoons with an array of pop culture references in my works.

To supplement my income I’ve worked as an uber driver the past 9.5 years.

As of 2 years ago, I’ve stepped up as a caretaker for my 98 y.o Italian grandmother & paid thru her insurance.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The art scene is vast in Miami, I love that it is welcomed and appreciated by the masses here. Wynwood blocks from home, can’t wait to paint a large scale mural out there!

The flooding our city annually experiences is by far the worst aspect of south Florida living.

There’s also a lot of pollution (trash on streets) in our city. Which is why my son & I often volunteer our time, cleaning the streets of Miami.
