Check Out Ivania Rodriguez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivania Rodriguez.

Ivania Rodriguez

Hi Ivania, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Being a filmmaker and an artist, I found my voice by emitting anything that says: love. I constantly see life through a lens filled with love, or some might say rose-colored lenses. I have always been attracted to and well knowledge of beauty and advertising.

So I studied filmmaking, advertising, and digital media. I have a passion for just creating. I always tried to illustrate reviews, shoot pictures, or make a short film with the theme being love. and when covid hit, the title of Social Media Manager that I had for years, became Content Creator. Some people might see content creation as easy, but when you have to create an ad that doesn’t feel like one…you tell me. As well as something that looks like an art piece.

Coming from a community college filmmaking background, really allows you to be your photographer, your model, editor, colorist, copywriter, videographer, and social media manager. At the end of the day, anyone can make content but not everyone can make it feel romantic or beautiful. I take pride in my work and I seek to make everyone feel like they’re falling in love when they see my pieces.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles I had along the way I would say are people not taking me seriously. They see my Hispanic community college background and think that I might not know much.

I know people who have studied in prestigious schools who don’t think outside of the box or may only know one specific skill. I have worn multiple hats for many years and I sometimes think I make it look so easy, that people think they can do it themselves.

Being a creative, I have been let go many times, and have been underpaid while doing it. It’s hard to find people who respect you and your work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a creative that is constantly growing my skill sets. I specialize in creating video content but I also do photography and illustrations as well. I’m most known for doing beauty content and Miami events.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
I used to call myself a videographer and a social media manager. Now it’s all called content creator. I learned I can create so many pieces of my work at home.

You just have to know how to be creative enough to think differently. I also learned how much I love being around people and how I need to be around them a few times a week haha. Quarantine reminded us what is important in our lives and I will never forget that love always comes first.
