Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayden Brax.
Hi Hayden, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first fell in love with Miami when I had just graduated from college and visited for the first time while doing social media for a hotel in South Beach. After this visit, I decided I was going to make the move, and found myself living in Downtown Brickell within two weeks. As someone who was born and raised in the Midwest, I never expected to be calling Miami home.
However, the vibrant culture that the 305 was exactly what this Kansas girl needed. I continued following my love of creating social media content and meeting new people, and that landed me the opportunity to work at some of the most incredible private events, model for lots of local brands, and meet some of the most incredibly talented people in the city of Miami.
Formula One and Miami Swim Week events are hands down my favorite. None of this would’ve happened if that fresh college grad hadn’t taken a chance on Miami life, and I am forever grateful she did. To any new grads looking for the perfect post-grad city, Miami is the place for you.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I moved to Miami completely alone and was initially very worried about leaving all my friends behind in my hometown. However, I have found Miami to be an incredibly social city with so much to offer.
I had to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to meet new people through run clubs, yoga classes, exploring the city through local events and experiences, and even just saying hi to random people in my apartment elevator. The short-term social anxiety was worth it in the long run because I ended up meeting the most amazing people in this city.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My favorite work experience while living in Miami has been as a model and private events bartender with the company Baybes. Baybes is a premiere event staffing and promotional modeling agency. I have worked on numerous events from Formula 1 to private parties working with my favorite celebrities and brands.
The best part about this job has also been meeting so many incredible women. As a Miami newcomer, I cannot recommend enough to people to find a job that allows them to be social and meet amazing and like-minded people. Additionally, I have a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and early autism intervention.
I worked in behavioral intervention for children with autism all throughout college, and now work part-time as a behavior therapist. My dream someday is to have my own private practice as a life coach in order to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to overcome social obstacles.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
There’s no way I would be where I am today without my profound love of people. Whether it may be from growing up in the Midwest, or just being a natural-born extrovert, I have truly never met a stranger and I see every person I meet as an opportunity to learn something new.
Almost every job I’ve booked has been through a word-of-mouth referral or someone that I met in real life. While building a life for myself in a brand new city, I have learned that pouring kindness into every person you meet can take you to lengths that you never even imagined.
