Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgina Benitez.
Hi Georgina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Cuba, and that’s where my love for gymnastics began. At a very young age, I was selected to train, and from the very first practices I knew this sport would be part of my life forever. Gymnastics gave me discipline, resilience, and confidence, and I poured my heart into every routine. Over the years, that hard work led me to compete in the National Games, where I earned several medals. Those moments were so special to me, not just because of the medals themselves, but because they were a reminder of what dedication and sacrifice could achieve.
When I eventually came to the United States, I carried all those lessons and experiences with me, along with a dream — to create a place where children could discover the same passion and joy that gymnastics gave me. That dream became Gina’s Gymnastics. It started small, but step by step, with a lot of long days, faith, and support from incredible families, and staff it has grown into the community we are today.
For me, this gym is not just about flips and routines. It’s about giving kids the opportunity to build confidence, courage, and character. Whether they go on to compete or just fall in love with the sport, I want every child who walks through our doors to feel what I felt: that gymnastics can change your life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like anything worth doing, there have been challenges. When we first started, there were long days, limited resources, and plenty of obstacles to figure out along the way. Balancing the business side with my passion for coaching was not always easy. But every challenge taught me something valuable, patience, resilience, and the importance of community. What kept me going was my love for the sport and the kids. Seeing their progress and joy made every struggle feel like it had a purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is so much more than teaching gymnastics, it’s about building up kids to believe in themselves. I specialize in working with athletes of all levels, from beginners just learning their first cartwheel to competitive gymnasts training for meets. What I’m known for is creating an environment that feels like family. Yes, we push for excellence, but we also celebrate the small victories, the effort, and the joy of the sport.
What I’m most proud of is the confidence I see grow in these athletes. Watching a shy child come in uncertain, and then little by little find their voice, their strength, and their courage, that’s the greatest reward.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the incredible coaching staff we have at Gina’s Gymnastics. I’m especially grateful for my right-hand, Ana Lemus, who has been such an important part of supporting the athletes and the gym’s vision. It truly takes a team, and I’m blessed to have people by my side who care just as deeply about the kids as I do.
What sets us apart is that balance of discipline and heart. We train hard, but we also make sure every child feels supported and seen. At Gina’s Gymnastics, we’re not just building skills, we’re shaping character.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What I’d like to share is simple: gymnastics is about so much more than flips and routines. It’s about building confidence, discipline, and joy in kids’ lives. My hope is that every child who walks into Gina’s Gymnastics feels supported, encouraged, and celebrated for who they are, whether they go on to compete or just discover a love for movement.
I’m so grateful to the families who trust us with their kids, to my staff who share the same passion, and to the athletes who inspire me every single day. If you’re a parent looking for a place where your child can grow not just as an athlete, but as a person, I’d love to welcome you to our gym family.
