Today we’d like to introduce you to Emanuel Flores.
Hi Emanuel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born with a natural sense of curiosity and a love for human connection two qualities that eventually led me to the world of hospitality. My journey didn’t start in a straight line. Like many, I had to work my way up, learning every aspect of the business from the ground up. I’ve been a busser, host, server, bartender, and manage reach role taught me something different about people, leadership, and the emotional power of good service. Over time, I realized that what drives me isn’t just running a restaurant it’s creating experiences that people remember. That’s what led me to Sha Wynwood. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to combine my passion for food, culture, music, and design into a space that feels alive not just for guests, but for the team behind it.
My story is one of resilience, reinvention, and deep commitment to authenticity. I believe that hospitality is not a job it’s a craft, a way of life. And every day is another chance to do it better, with more intention and more character.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all but that’s what makes the journey meaningful. In hospitality, every day presents new challenges. From staffing issues and rising costs to building a consistent guest experience, nothing is ever fully predictable. One of the biggest hurdles has been finding the right team people who not only understand service, but embody the spirit and energy we want to offer at Sha Wynwood. We also opened our doors in a very competitive market, so standing out took time, patience, and constant innovation. But each struggle has helped shape our identity, forcing us to grow stronger, more creative, and more committed to our vision: creating a space where every guest feels immersed in character, flavor, and warmth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m currently the General Manager at Sha Wynwood, a Mediterranean restaurant and lounge located in the heart of Miami’s art district. My work is rooted in curating memorable experiences; from the energy of the dining room to the flow of private events and the details of service. I specialize in hospitality with character, where every interaction is personal, intentional, and leaves a lasting impression. What I’m most proud of is the team I’ve helped build a group of professionals who understand that hospitality isn’t just about food and drinks, it’s about creating a vibe, a moment, a feeling. I’m known for being detail-oriented, hands-on, and committed to excellence, but always approachable and collaborative.
What sets me apart is my ability to balance operational discipline with creativity. I care about systems, but I also care about soul. I believe in leading by example, and I strive to make our space feel authentic, alive, and welcoming every single night.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Miami is its energy, it’s vibrant, diverse, and full of life. There’s a rhythm to this city that’s unlike anywhere else. The cultural mix, the art, the music, the food, all of it creates a dynamic atmosphere where creativity thrives. Miami doesn’t follow trends; it sets them. Being part of the hospitality industry here means constantly being inspired and challenged to innovate.
What I like least is the lack of consistency when it comes to infrastructure and support for small businesses. Sometimes it feels like the system isn’t built for long-term sustainability, and that can make it difficult for passionate entrepreneurs and professionals to grow without added pressure. That said, it’s also part of what makes the community strong; we support each other, adapt quickly, and keep pushing forward.
