Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsa Delgado.
Hi Elsa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I came to USA 9 years ago, back in my country Venezuela I was an Art lover and friend and I have done part of my studies in journalism. Five years ago a friend of mine (family in a way) open the radio Doral Voice and knowing that I had being related to art and journalism, asked me if I want to do an Art program for the radio, It was like blind date, not knowing what was coming I said yes immediately I just love the idea of doing it. Since then, five years ago, I have being doing “Doral arts and beyond” which is an one hour interview program, where I invite guest from all the art scene.. plastic artists, writers, theatre, galleries, collectors, musicians, cinema.. and so on. More than an interview is a fresh conversation, an encounter with the person, digging and walking through theirs lives and professions.. anecdotes, stories, living experiences.. all about Art. The main idea is to visualize and make more visible everything and everybody who is relate to the arts so other people can know more about what’s going on in the Art world around South of Florida.. I must say that it have being incredibly gratifying and beautiful, specially when I see every one happy and pleased after finishing the program.. it a human experience and even better because it’s related to the Art world around.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been mostly smooth because I love doing it. Of course some times, and basically because it related to people, can find difficult moments trying to clarify some opinions .. never nothing extremely hard..
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is basically very human related and what make me more proud is that people, every one that past through it reports to be pleased about the experience.. that is very gratifying..
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Basically the directors of the radio Juan Carlos and Nancy Esquivel .. and all the persons a have interviewed..
