Check Out Elizabeth Taylor Mays’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Taylor Mays.

Hi Elizabeth Taylor , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Canada. The daughter of a creative artist who tragically took her own life when I was only 15 months old. I moved to the US in my 20s where I married and lived in NY with our 3 children. For many years I was a medical Esthetician, when I had a personal scare concerning breast cancer. At that point I geared my practice to help cancer survivors. This meant chemical free holistic facials and Microblading eyebrows after chemo. Soon I wanted to offer more, like scar camouflage and revision. This was when I met the tattoo machine. It was love at first sight. I am now a cosmetic tattoo artist as well as a board certified medical tattoo artist. I work for plastic surgeons from Florida to South Carolina.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning anything is a struggle especially the type of art that goes on someone’s face. It’s def not for the weak. People trust me to deliver results they can live with. Especially my breast cancer survivors. I hold this trust close to my heart.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am constantly learning the latest trends, working on my craft, and discovering more about the industry each and every day. I’m probably most proud of my work with breast cancer survivors. Helping these brave warriors to feel like a woman again, after a mastectomy, is the greatest feeling in the world. What I’m most known for is eyebrows. Especially corrective work.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To say “no” Not everyone is a candidate for the type of work I preform & being honest upfront is important.
