Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Evelyn Boahen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I decided on my professional journey at the age of twelve, with aspirations to earn both doctorates and become a counselor. I have earned an Associate’s degree in Administration from South University, a Bachelor’s degree in Management with a minor in law at Palm Beach Atlantic University, a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Kings University, working on a second master’s in substance abuse as an addiction counselor at Liberty University, and a Doctorate in Ministry, Evangelism, and Church Planting at Libert University. I founded my own private practice, Dr. Evelyn Moskey Mental Health Associates, PLLC, in West Palm Beach and Seattle, Washington.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been an easy road in my life. I grew up in a parish in Wauchula, Florida, where there are many obstacles in our small community. My mom was a single mom of five kids—one of the best moms. Sadly, on August 20, 2025, we lost her to heaven. I was a single mom to my developmentally disabled son; I lost him on February 16, 2026. Despite all that I’ve dealt with—between divorce and other legal situations—losing my son is by far the most difficult challenge I’ve ever had to endure. My son was 32 years old and developmentally disabled, and I was his guardian all his life. It has not been easy trying to adjust to the world without being responsible for him. I’ve been finding my identity and who I am, and Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior, has primarily been my rock. But I am getting there.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I began my professional journey later in life, yet it is my gift and craft, with a clear vision as an owner and counselor. I have earned many degrees, including my doctorate, and have accumulated a lot of life experience—they go hand in hand. That passion for helping others has guided every step of my educational and professional path. I earned an Associate’s degree in Administration from South University, a Bachelor’s degree in Management with a minor in Law from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The King’s University. I am currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Substance Abuse Counseling at Liberty University, as well as a Doctorate in Ministry focused on Evangelism and Church Planting.
I am the founder of Dr. Evelyn Moskey Mental Health Associates, PLLC, a private practice serving clients in both Florida and Washington. Our practice is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals, couples, and families navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges.
We specialize in trauma-informed counseling, particularly for survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence, while also providing support for individuals within the LGBTQ community. In addition, we work extensively with clients experiencing major depressive disorder, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, addiction-related concerns, and other mental health conditions. Our approach is rooted in empathy, clinical excellence, cultural sensitivity, and individualized care that recognizes the unique story and strengths of every client.
What sets our practice apart is our commitment to integrating professional expertise with genuine compassion and advocacy. We believe healing happens when people feel seen, heard, safe, and empowered. Our work is not simply about symptom management—it is about helping individuals reclaim their voice, rebuild their confidence, strengthen relationships, and rediscover hope and purpose.
One of the things I am most proud of, brand-wise, is building a practice that serves as a safe and affirming space for people who often feel misunderstood, overlooked, or marginalized. My personal mission has always been to combine education, faith, advocacy, and mental health care to create meaningful change in others’ lives. Through counseling, mentorship, and community support, we aim to help individuals move from surviving to thriving.
I want readers to know that our practice is built on authenticity, integrity, and a deep passion for serving others. We are committed to meeting clients where they are, walking alongside them through their healing journey, and providing the support, tools, and encouragement needed for lasting emotional wellness and personal growth.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
One of the things I appreciate most about West Palm Beach is its diversity, culture, and sense of community. The city brings together people from many different backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life, which creates opportunities for connection, growth, and meaningful conversations. I also value the increasing awareness surrounding mental health and wellness within the community. There is a growing openness toward counseling, advocacy, and support services, which is encouraging for both professionals and individuals seeking help. The city’s warmth, vibrant energy, and commitment to entrepreneurship have also created a supportive environment for building and growing my private practice.
What I like least is that, despite the growth and beauty of the city, there are still significant gaps in access to affordable and quality mental health care. Many individuals and families continue to struggle with financial barriers, stigma, lack of resources, or long wait times when trying to receive support. I also believe there is still more work to be done in creating stronger community support systems for trauma survivors, underserved populations, and individuals facing addiction, homelessness, or severe mental health challenges. My hope is to continue contributing to positive change by helping bridge some of those gaps through compassionate and accessible care.
