Check Out Destiny (Dee Cee) Rolle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny (Dee Cee) Rolle.

Hi Destiny (Dee Cee), thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Destiny but I also go By Dee Cee. I am the CEO of DetangledbyDeeCee and I take down Hair located in Miami Fl. Back when the Covid-19 Pandemic hit in 2020, I was in the process of moving into my own place and I needed and wanted extra income.

I asked my Homegirl at the time, for some advice and she helped me brainstorm a few ideas. I first went with wanting to do hair, I purchased a doll head and all but it just sat in my closet – because I wasn’t really motivated or into doing hair.

So I let the idea of the extra income go out the way because I felt like I would not make it.

I went back to the drawing board. – My little cousin always struggled taking out her hair and I would help her. My homegirl was over that day and suggested “why not take out hair” – I said people would pay for that. Not sure if that was a thing.

She was like Girl Yes, I would even pay you- I hate taking out my girl’s hair. So I pounder over the idea- Prayed over it and Said LET’S Do It.

I came up with a price list and a Name for my business all in two days. She helped me go over a few things and gave me the Green Light.

I came up with colors, and paid someone for a logo and started posting.

I had a lot of support in the begging, but It has not been an easy road.

My specialty is Soft Locs and when I say my very first time I struggled because I had no Clue on a method/ technique; I was on that client’s head for 8 hours (she also had dreadlocks – so I had to be extra careful) Boy was that a challenge but it made me feel whole and reborn – I felt as if I Discovered my calling.

I felt like Maniac Magee in Novel by Jerry Spinelli when he untied the impossible knot.

From then I started to attend a few pop-up shops (to get more exposure) – I started to watch a few videos on YouTube – and also with more clientele, I got better at what I do.

I’ve had two VIP Clients thus far – and I’ve met amazing WOMEN and a few interesting Kids along this journey. And I must say this is just the begging of what’s to become.

Stay tuned and don’t blink.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Road thus far has been actually smooth.

I had to learn Balance and Time management.

Working Full time at home and having the kids home until they went back in person and also taking out hair was a bit much – but It showed me the beauty of Motherhood and being a working mom both professionally and personally.

I learned that I had to make sure I made time for my kids because working Monday – Friday 8am-5pm – going to school from 6pm – 9pm – taking out hair in between and having to get the kids ready for the next day was a bit much at first but I found a system that worked for me and my village after a few trial and errors.

The beauty of it all, I was able to graduate with my AA this past Spring 2022 with my AA and spend more time with my children as needed and wanted.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I am very proud of my clients; for trusting me and using my services – seeing me as a need and someone they can rely on.

What sets me apart from others is That I Travel to your home for a fee and that I am very big on communication – Phone consultations are imperative when booking with me. I take pride in getting to know my Clients and providing them with an experience of winding down and relaxing when they book with me.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Going to the hair salon; watching women get their hair done and just be able to be liberated from their current life worries for the moment.

And also sitting under the dryer and watching movies all day waiting for my mom to come to pick me up.

Just being around Black Women and learning from them ( even though some conversations I shouldn’t have listened in on, lol)
