Today we’d like to introduce you to Deja Williams.
Deja, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2017, I was going through a rough patch in life, seems as if everything was happening at once. I lost my job all while juggling kids and taking care of a loved one while they were in the hospital.
Since I knew that my loved one would need assistance between the hospital and home, I knew I need a job/profession where I could be flexible. I took an eyelash extension training course, and just so happen I loved it. My family has always had a background in the beauty industry so this was what seemed to be a no-brainer, right lol.
Doing lashes not only became my job but a passion of mine, I would work on lashes day and night. It just makes it so much easier to do the job when you love what you do. I am constantly being trained in different areas because I feel like you always have to be open and available to learn more and want more.
So here I am.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road at all. Being consistent I feel is the biggest thing about entrepreneurship. In this social media world, consistency is my downfall.
I really don’t care for social media so posting content multiple times a day is a struggle for me. I know they have different apps and things that will post for you, but I rarely even take pictures. I’m really trying to get better at that.
That has been most of my struggle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Certified Eyelash Extension Technician, currently working towards my Esthetician license. I specialize in Eyelash Extensions, Classic Hybrid, and Volume Sets.
I am most proud of my willingness and eagerness to continue to learn and do more. I would say my genuineness and the great customer service I provide for my clients would set me apart from others.
When you come into my studio we are like best friends, my clients ask me for advice and we have girls talk like no other knowing that they are confident to know this is a safe haven for them and they won’t hear their business anywhere else.
I’m always willing to fit my clients in and be sure they are satisfied with everything that I do. They are like my Bestie-Clients, lol.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
With finding a mentor, I would say don’t be afraid to ASK. You just never know until you ask.
Most people are afraid because of the type of expectations social media has made for business owners, people feel like others won’t tell them or hold back on information. You will never know until you ASK, they can either tell you all they know, some of what they know, or ignore you.
Don’t take it personally. No one can stop me from being genuine to others, I won’t give others the power to block my blessings. Some people are still genuine.
