Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Erie.
Hi Christian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
All my life I had the upmost potential and talent to play the game at the highest levels in wherever I was. Just had no one to take it upon themselves to actually show me how to utilize my talent the right way. I only played Freshmen/JV my first two years and never played Varsity basketball due to being cut both years of junior and senior year.
Fast forward a couple years later I transferred as a regular student from FAU to a small NAIA school my junior and senior year to play on the team. However I tore my ACL my first year due to overstress and training getting ready for what could’ve been my first collegiate basketball year.
After graduating College with a double major in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science, I knew I was too talented to just quit the game even though I was dealing with injuries and haven’t really played organized basketball since high school healthy.
I decided to intern under who is now my mentor Stan Remy and one of the top NBA trainers in the world. I’ve also got opportunities to learn from other legendary trainers like Phil Handy as well. All this just led me to learn the game while healing from my injury, and fell more and more in love with the idea of helping others reach that level of understanding in the game that no one took the time to teach me. Once I saw how I have a talent for taking basketball development to the next stage for these athletes I then became a sponge and soaking up as much information and watching film/games and obsessing on how I can break down the game to make it simpler for my clients and see greater results.
The more knowledge that I had within the game and confidence I spoke with allowed all the NBA/WNBA/Overseas/College and even youth to trust that a young trainer like myself with over 4 years of experience. From being an intern to an NBA trainer and continue to grow and possibly be one of the top guys in the near future is not something I take lightly and will always be a student of the game.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Biggest obstacle I ever faced physically was tearing my ACL and my meniscus. Felt like a tear away from my dreams for a bit and may never come back the same.
The biggest obstacle I faced mentally was not believing I was good enough to play when my skills and talent told me otherwise.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
NBA/WNBA Developmental Skills Trainer
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am partially hard of hearing and have been living with a disadvantage all my life but that was just another fuel to the fire and keep me disciplined for all those years of 5am trainings and late nights when motivation left my body and still to this day I work like I have nothing.
This later turned my lifestyle into my own clothing brand. My clothing brand is called NVISN, which a short summary stands for envisioning the greatest version of yourself no matter what disability, setbacks, or obstacles we face in life. I wanted people to see this brand as not a clothing brand but a staple of life and inspire others to make that version of themselves into a reality.
