Check Out Cesar Cuadrelli’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Cuadrelli

Hi Cesar, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am an Argentine painter based in Miami, more specifically a portrait painter.
I have reached this point through a long journey. The path began in a town in Entre Rios province in Argentina when I was born and raised. I studied at the University of Buenos Aires as a doctor, then as a Psychiatrist and a specialist in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I worked with serious sick patients.
I basically worked with the word, speech and medication. But I got to a point in my career where I started to feel like I needed something more, other resources or other tools to really help my patients. And so I started working with images, drawings and paintings to try to encompass what words couldn’t. They were patients with cancer or Aids who needed something more to process their condition. I created a sort of art therapy, group therapy.
It was a discovery that years later I began to put into practice to develop my own emotions in response to the stories of others, their sufferings and also my emotions.
Moving to Miami when the opportunity arose, gave me the chance to work seriously on this.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggle every day between painting what I feel, what I won’t to convey, that biography, than pain or that joy or painting that is beautiful, what looks good and what sells more.
Fortunately, mi inner truth always prevails.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I try to paint atypical beauty, different bodies, emotions.
The tear, the pain, the tenderness, the dreams, the joy, the processes of identity, including social injustice are triggers for my work. I have studied some fine arts in Buenos Aires, I have taken portrait courses in NYAA and practice with Live Model but basically I have self managed my learning and style.
I try to have the courage to show my soul, to bare my feelings.
What sets me apart is that I challenge someone to bo able to hang an emotion, the flesh, a piece of soul on the wall. I am not a painter of simple or easy works, I am rather someone who seeks to reach a special place close to some truth.

How do you define success?
Success is achieving change in the lives of others by being yourself.
