Check Out Carly Altier’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Altier.

Hi Carly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Once upon a cocktail, The Seed was born. Chatting over passions and dreams one evening in 2014 we put The Seed on paper, had a few important conversations, more cocktails, and decided to go for it. Sometimes that is exactly what you need to do to just get started; just wing it. Having a background in health being an RN, and growing up in the hospitality business I’ve always had a passion for both. Lots of loud conversations around my grandmothers dinner table, too many siblings and children to count, creating a comfortable space for people to gather was in my DNA. So the city I was born and raised in, Boca Raton, seemed like the perfect spot to plant our idea. Being a mother of five coffee was always of plenty and I needed more. Having been the first specialty coffee AND cold-pressed juice shop in our area it took some education and a quick learned taste of amazing coffee to get our customers hooked! Almost seven years later, three more seeds, our doors are still open serving up the finest to our community!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nope. “Nothing good comes easy” has definitely proved itself to be true. I’ve learned that the same lesson will emerge until you learn it. We have faced draining challenges from all angles of business; failed partnerships, poor business decisions, and cough’ cough’ Covid. However, experience is priceless. No class or podcast could teach us. Navigating these obstacles has made The Seed and my business sense stronger than ever. Still so much to learn and educate ourselves with and would never turn an ear to advice.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We do people. Plain and simple. Nothing is more important to me with our brands recognition than now we treat the people who support it! In addition, The Seed strives at constantly perfecting our brew and our whole fruit smoothie offerings. Our specialty coffee is like no other. Our coffee beans, from Counter Culture Coffee, are at the hands of the very farmers from all over the world who take immense pride in each crop and in turn we take pride in each cup. Continuously changing grind size and changing parameters to assure you are sipping the best. On the other hand, we do seasonal whole fruit smoothies, acai bowls, and cold pressed juice where each recipe was created keeping your health and gut in mind. We are known for being ‘your neighborhood hangs’ . We are your neighborhood. We are most proud of the brilliant energy that those four walls give off! We also are proud to say we will have grown to four locations by the years end!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Assure you have a tenacious side before taking the plunge. Don’t give up when things get tough, they will. Stay true to you, HAVE FUN AND LAUGH! What is the point if you aren’t? Competition will always be there, just keep looking straight ahead there’s plenty to go around. All of the things above.
