Today we’d like to introduce you to Aye Sossa.
Hi Aye, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey from the moment I hit highschool. I was getting into a lot of trouble and realized I had a passion for fighting. In the beginning It was tough for me to focus because I was a street kid and I couldn’t see myself as more then just that. Through that time period I kept chasing my dreams and telling myself I can make it not only for myself but for my loved ones. As time passed I spent more time in the gym and less time on the streets and got my fighting passbook and began to compete.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has been hell. From family members, friends and even a mentor of mine dying. I battled with depression silently throughout the whole process. Carrying the weight of people I wish was around to see what I’ve become. I had gotten arrested a few times also for simply defending myself and friends. I went through a lot of things that are designed to break you but I always found a way to come out on top. It may not have been right a way but I always seemed to come out okay.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a boxer. I specialize in hurting people in the ring lol. I’m known for my relentless pressure in the ring. Im most proud of being a father. My greatest gift to the world and I feel like the greatest gift to me from the world is my son. What sets me apart from others is my story. What sets me apart is that even though the world gave me hell , I found a way to always keep a pure heart. To always uplift the people around me and try to be there as much as I can even when I myself needed to be uplifted.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
God has played a big role in my life. I’m not one to place my beliefs on anyone but me personally I have a good relationship with god. A lady by the name of ms. Soti who was my teacher when I was young and became a mentor to me. She unfortunately passed years ago and it hurt me a lot because she played a big role in speaking life into me when I was a troubled teen and whether she realized it or not I needed to hear the things she said to me. Aside from her teachers like Mr. Rodriguez who till this day is a good friend of mine. My guidance counselors ms. Bobby and ms. Gladis. My trainer John who is also like a second father to me because he took the time to build me up not only as a fighter but as a warrior in battle. My son because he gave me a lot more purpose. My family and good friends of mine like Pucho a childhood friend who has stayed by my side through it all and many more people who one way or another shaped me. These are the people I also have in mind when I lace up my boxing gloves.
