Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley.
Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad was passionate about photography, so there was always a camera around and I was constantly taking photos. In high school I took photography classes that helped nurture that interest and showed me how powerful it could be to preserve moments in a tangible way.
After graduating, I pursued a degree in business and earned my associate’s. Not long after, my husband gifted me my first professional digital camera. He told me that he had always seen how much I loved photography and that the worst-case scenario was that I wouldn’t make money from it—but I would still get to do something I loved. Thankfully, with a lot of dedication and faith, it turned into something much more.
Over the years I’ve experienced the loss of several people very close to me, including my dad. Those experiences deepened my perspective on photography and reinforced why preserving memories matters so much. It’s not just about documenting milestones, but about capturing the fleeting, meaningful moments in between that make up our lives.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have an unwavering support system—from my own family to my husband’s family—who have always believed in me and the vision I had for this path. My husband, who has been my best friend since middle school and my partner since high school, has truly been the backbone behind everything I’ve built.
Today, we share our life with our daughter, Oaklynn, who has brought an entirely new depth of meaning to both my work and my life. Becoming a mother has reminded me to slow down and appreciate the moments I’m capturing for others.
Most of all, I’m endlessly grateful for the clients and families who trust me to document their stories. Their support has allowed me to turn a lifelong passion into something truly meaningful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most creative paths, there have definitely been challenges along the way. Turning something you love into a career means stepping into a lot of unknowns. Creating and putting your work out into the world can be intimidating, because you never fully know how others will receive it or if people will believe in your work the way you do.
I’ve also had to learn not to be so hard on myself. When your work is deeply personal, it’s easy to overthink it or feel like you should always be doing more or improving faster. At the same time, I truly believe that growth comes from staying curious and open to learning. Photography is an art that constantly evolves, and I’m always trying to learn new things, refine my craft, and continue growing creatively.
Another challenge has been learning how to balance everything—building a business, continuing to grow as an artist, and maintaining a life outside of work. Becoming a mom especially has shifted my perspective and reminded me how important it is to slow down and appreciate the moments happening in my own life as well.
Looking back, those challenges have ultimately helped shape the way I approach my work today. They’ve pushed me to trust the process, stay grounded in why I started, and continue creating in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in lifestyle photography, focusing on families, motherhood, couples, and meaningful milestones. My goal has always been to capture moments in a way that feels genuine and timeless rather than overly posed. While I of course document the big moments people want to remember, I’m most drawn to the in-between ones—the quiet glances, laughter, movement, and the little interactions that truly tell a story.
My style leans toward natural, emotive imagery with a slightly editorial feel. I love working with natural light and creating photos that feel authentic to the people in them so that when they look back years from now, it still feels like them.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Many of the families I photograph come back year after year, allowing me to document different chapters of their lives—from engagements, to maternity, to newborn sessions and beyond. Being invited into those moments and building those relationships is something I never take for granted.
I think what sets me apart is the way I approach each session with intention and connection. I want people to feel comfortable, seen, and like themselves in front of the camera. Photography, to me, is about preserving real memories and emotions—not just creating a beautiful image, but capturing something meaningful that people can hold onto for years to come.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about this area is how naturally beautiful it is. We have the ocean, rivers, preserves, and so many quiet outdoor spaces that make it such a special place to live and photograph. As a photographer, I feel really lucky to have access to locations that feel peaceful and untouched, where families can just relax and be themselves. There’s also a strong sense of community here, and I’ve been grateful to meet so many incredible people and small business owners who support one another.
If there’s one challenge, it’s that the area is growing quickly. While growth can bring new opportunities, it can also make it harder to preserve some of the charm and slower pace that makes this place so special. I think many of us who live here just hope that as the community grows, it continues to hold onto the natural beauty and close-knit feeling that make it unique.
