Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Brill.
Hi Arielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business in a very personal way—out of both necessity and creativity. When my extremely girlie girl of a daughter first began walking, she refused to wear any shoes that did not sparkle. Out of resourcefulness to get her to wear shoes, I found the art of bedazzling. I was immediately hooked and learned it is an art that is either therapeutic or infuriating to a person. Friends began asking for custom items and it took off from there.
I expanded into custom pieces, bedazzling everything from dance, figure skating, and cheerleading outfits to tumblers, sport memorabilia, shoes, wedding gifts, graduation caps – really anything and everything. Each piece is made by hand, with a strong focus on individuality and craftsmanship.
As I found I could expand in my creativity, I wanted to stay connected to my roots and I began experimenting with western-style hats—hand-burning designs into them, shaping them, and finishing them with carefully placed rhinestones. What started as experimenting quickly grew as people began noticing the detail and uniqueness of my work.
As a single, homeschool mom, my business is still both necessity and outlet for my creativity. It allows me to juggle creating custom artwork and focus on my children and their education. My kids see the literal labor of love I put into my work and pieces every day and are learning first hand about running a small business.
I’ve grown through word of mouth and customer trust, and I continue to create pieces that are not only eye-catching but meaningful to the people who wear and use them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No job or business is a completely smooth road, and I think it’s important to be honest about that. There are definitely pros and cons to running your own business.
One of the biggest advantages is that you work for yourself. You have the freedom to be creative, to build something that reflects you, and to figure out what works best for your life and your family. For me, that flexibility is everything—it allows me to balance being a mom while still pursuing my passion for creating.
At the same time, there are challenges that come with it. When you run your own business, everything falls on you. You have to put in the time, effort, and consistency every single day. A business won’t grow or be successful with little effort—you get out of it what you put into it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create hand-burned western hats with custom designs, each one shaped and finished by hand. Every piece starts with carefully hand-burning the design directly into the hat, then shaping it to achieve the right structure and feel. I finish each hat with hand-placed crystal rhinestones, adding a subtle level of detail and dimension that makes every piece stand out without overpowering the design.
I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind pieces that blend western style with a refined, feminine edge. My work is known for its attention to detail and the balance between bold design and subtle embellishment. Because each piece is done by hand, no two pieces are exactly the same.
What I’m most proud of is being able to take someone’s vision and turn it into something wearable and personal. Whether it’s a statement hat or a custom piece for a special moment, I love creating items that people feel connected to. Receiving photos of my customers wearing my hats is incredible. I love each and every piece and seeing them worn and loved out in the world is amazing to me.
What sets me apart is the combination of techniques I use—combining hand burning and individually placing each rhinestone. It’s a slower, more intentional process, but it allows me to create pieces that are truly unique and made with purpose, not just decoration.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m focused on continuing to grow my presence and getting my work out to more and more people who will enjoy it. One of the most exciting developments has been being able to enter into large rodeo venues, which has opened up a whole new audience that really connects with my style and craftsmanship.
Through the fall, I’ll be traveling and doing events in Nashville and throughout North Carolina, which I’m really looking forward to. It’s an opportunity not only to showcase my work, but also to meet customers in person and create more custom pieces that reflect their stories and style.
