Today we’d like to introduce you to Kale.
Kale, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Before developing into the artist I am today, my situation once caused me to feel alone and incapable of expressing myself. I was unemployed, depressed, feeling detached from everything and everyone around me. Art was the outlet I needed to allow me to truly express myself. It was when I worked tirelessly to buy my first car, I was finally able to drive throughout South Florida and appreciate the art around me. Art is more than just paintings but it is the people, the culture, style and even food.
Art in itself is a form of my expression, something I’ve come to appreciate in my lowest moments as well as my happiest. The way I view art transfers in my everyday life. I showcase my love of art through clothes and photography and other visual arts. If you look close enough, you can see that art tells a story. I aspire to tell others my story through my pictures, my style and the way I choose to live and express myself every day.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to create stories like a movie director does movies. I display my stories through visual arts, photography, clothes, and music. By using my local scenery and my own imagination. I hope to motivate people to wear what they want and what makes them feel confident. As well as to create their own art from passion and emotions. I believe true art comes from within.
The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Even though I’m still learning myself on how to maneuver with financial issues. I’ve learned that you can market yourself as a brand. You can make money from your drawings to the clothes you create. From the pictures you take, literally from everything. It all starts with you and your confidence. Once people notice how serious you are about what you do. Believe me it may not come now, but the income will follow. Start off small and focus more on what makes you happy and drives quality results.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
