Check out Esther and AnnaLisa Underhay’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther and AnnaLisa Underhay.

Esther and AnnaLisa have delighted audiences all around the world as international harpists. They’ve had the honor of playing for American presidents, Indian maharajas, British royalty and endless Hollywood celebrities. They are a dynamic duo to say the very least. They operate solo harpist careers, but what makes them even more unique is that they also play as a duet. Seeing a harpist is quite rare in this day and age, but to see two of them create musical conversations together is an extraordinary experience. The way Esther and AnnaLisa can anticipate each other’s improvisation is truly something to behold and only achievable with that mother/daughter bond they share as they make their way through everything from Mozart to Led Zepplin. Part of their joy in performing is often surprising their audiences with new or unexpected music to further tantalize the senses.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Though the harp is one of the most ancient instruments in history, we want people to know that it is very much alive. Listening to harp music is more than a spectator sport, you’re entire being is enveloped. The harp has gone through many evolutionary changes throughout history, but perhaps none more than the creation of Annalisa’s harp guitar with 26 strings fed through a guitar effects pedal to create a truly innovative experience.

The harp is perfect for background music because you don’t have to compete with it to speak, but the duo love to do fully artistic stage shows which have been performed around the world from India, Romania, cruise lines and of course here at home in Florida.

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Being a harpist is not for the faint of heart. It takes a large level of commitment to even begin a career. Lessons are not readily available so it takes time to make that happen and that trip will be taken in the SUV bought specifically for the harp in addition to the actual instrument.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Esther and AnnaLisa are available for private events for both solo and duo. You can experience a teaser of their music at www.elegantharp.net
