Check out Boy Kong’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Boy Kong.

Boy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Got into art during high school, and started playing around with lots of different media over the years, seeing different art and artists. Been lucky enough to travel for work, so have been able to see different styles, old and contemporary across the states, and in places like Europe, Asia. Still on the journey.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
There isn’t a style or direction which dominates. I like experimenting. So one year, maybe I’m making more sculptures or fine pencil drawings, and then something catches me, and I’m into piñatas. Maybe my attention span is too short, but I like messing around.
No single message, but I especially like making work inspired by the animal kingdom and folklore. Been influenced a bunch last years by tattoo design, and I do tattoo though pretty infrequently.

I just want people to see my work and enjoy it. Just wanna add something nice to the world.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success in art is maybe to have the opportunity to continue making art.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work’s been shown in galleries and museums, mostly up in NYC, but also in my native Orlando.

I’ve also painted a good number of murals, big and small, in Miami, Orlando, NYC, in Germany, Denmark, and so on. Also, have stuff in corp. and retail collections. In Miami, you can see two large scale sculptural pieces. There’s a unicorn in the Rag & Bone store in the Design District, and a large tiger at the WeWork in Coral Gables.

Happy for people to support my work in whatever way they can, whether that’s following what I do on a social media platform or buying work, it’s all appreciated.
