Carina Kemelmajer shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Carina, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up every day at 6 a.m., and my first steps always lead me to the living room window overlooking the canal. I like to pause there for a few moments to contemplate the water: that view gives me calm, energy, and inspiration.
Afterward, I accompany my daughters until they leave for school and take the opportunity to tidy up the house a bit. Once things are quieter, I prepare breakfast for my husband and myself, a simple yet special ritual I truly enjoy, while we catch up on some news.
Then I open my computer and reply only to what’s urgent. I get ready and head to my atelier that is very close to my house, where I let creativity flow.
My day unfolds between my greatest passion: Art, and my work as a realtor, which keeps me connected with unique people and spaces. That balance between inspiration, family, and work is what gives meaning to my days.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Carina Kemelmajer, an Argentine contemporary abstract artist based in Miami. My work explores the balance between emotion, form, and texture, inviting each viewer to find their own interpretation within my paintings.
What makes my art unique is not only the aesthetic , a fusion of modern abstraction and deep conceptual reflection but also the philosophy behind it. Inspired by quantum physics and the contrasts of light and shadow, I seek to create pieces that resonate with both decorative elegance and emotional depth.
I’ve lived in Argentina, Uruguay, and now the U.S., and this multicultural journey shaped my vision: art as a universal language that transcends borders. Today, I focus on integrating my works into luxury interiors, boutique hotels, and modern spaces, where they don’t just decorate but transform the atmosphere.
Currently, I am working on expanding my presence in the hospitality industry, collaborating with designers and architects, and continuing to create collections that bring sophistication and soul to contemporary spaces.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I believe that moving between countries, experiencing different cultures, and working across diverse industries has profoundly shaped the way I see the world. It taught me that what truly matters is family, unity, and the beauty of living with simplicity. Inspiration, peace, and admiration arise from an inner sense of harmony , aligning body, mind, and soul.
If we focused more on nurturing that inner balance rather than comparing ourselves to others or passing judgment, there would be far less space for hate, resentment, or envy. For me, true harmony and peace begin within, and only then can they radiate outward to others and to the world. For many years, my personal mantra has been to live with fewer superficial things and more meaningful connections.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
There was a time when I used to see “failing” as something negative, but my perspective changed when I realized that things don’t always happen quickly , and it’s not because we don’t try hard enough. I understood that what truly matters is the journey itself. The results I aim for will come in their own time, but meanwhile, I can enjoy the process, share moments with family and friends, and embrace the experiences along the way.
Life goes by so fast that reaching the destination can take too many years , so I’d rather take longer, but truly enjoy the journey. Failing is not the end, but an experience , a teacher that shapes us, builds resilience, and guides us closer to who we are meant to be.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! If there’s one thing I value deeply, it’s being genuine. I don’t believe in changing who I am just to please others , the only changes I embrace are those that feel right for me or help me grow. Being authentic, simple, and humble are non-negotiable values in my life, and I carry them with me in everything I do.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m close to nature , walking by the beach, breathing fresh air, watching a fire, or simply being surrounded by the people I love. Having healthy children, a partner by my side, and friends who truly value me is priceless. In the end, simplicity has no price, and having the time to enjoy it is what makes me feel whole.
