We’re looking forward to introducing you to Benjo Hamo. Check out our conversation below.
Benjo, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to keep my mornings pretty simple. I move my body first thing-usually a workout to wake up and get some energy going. After that, I take a few minutes to read my affirmations. It helps me clear my head and set the vibe for the day, like attracting good energy before everything gets busy. By the time I sit down to work, I already feel clear, positive, and ready to give my best to my clients and projects.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Benjo, the founder of Benjo Interior Design. I grew up in Israel and started designing there before moving to South Florida. Back in Tel Aviv I worked on projects that taught me how much design can really change the way people feel in their homes. When I moved to Miami, I brought that same passion with me but added a new layer – the local lifestyle here is all about light, energy, and living big, so I mix that with the clean and modern approach I developed in Israel. What makes my work special is that I’m not just designing spaces – I’m building a story for each client, something that feels personal and unique to them. Today I work on everything from waterfront apartments to luxury houses, and what excites me most is seeing the moment a client walks in and feels like the space truly belongs to them.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I grew up with three brothers and one sister – she was the youngest. Our house didn’t have enough bedrooms for everyone, so my sister ended up in the middle of the house, basically living in the family room. That was fine until she hit her teenage years and started needing privacy. We boys already shared rooms, so it wasn’t easy for her or for us. I remember suggesting that we enclose the family room and turn it into a tiny bedroom just for her. I organized it, painted it in her favorite colors, and made it feel like her own special space. It was small, but it was hers. The look on her face when she saw it, how happy and grateful she was – that stuck with me. It was before I even thought about interior design, but that was the first time I felt how powerful it is to change someone’s environment and give them comfort in their own home.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes – when I first moved from Tel Aviv to Miami. Back in Israel I had my people, my connections, and a sense of stability. Here I was starting from zero. No clients, no network, no one who knew my work. There were moments where it felt like maybe I had made a mistake, like it would be easier to just go back. But I kept reminding myself why I came – to build something bigger, to challenge myself, and to create a life that felt right for me. It wasn’t easy, but step by step I started building connections, getting clients, and proving to myself that I could make it here. Looking back, those early struggles actually gave me more confidence, because I know I can rebuild from nothing and still create success.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d say good energy and real connection. I’ve always been careful about who I let close to me. I pick my friends with intention, and I make sure I’m surrounded by people I love and who love me back. For me it’s not about having a big crowd – it’s about having the right people, the ones who bring positivity, honesty, and good vibes into my life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I think my biggest regret would be not living in different parts of the world. It’s been my dream for a long time to spend a few months here and there in different countries – really experience the culture, the rhythm, the lifestyle – while still keeping my business running. The idea of mixing travel and work, of building my life in different places instead of just visiting, excites me. If I didn’t do that at some point, I’d feel like I missed out on something that could have shaped me in a big way.
