Art & Life with Saint Orbin, DWayne Bennett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saint Orbin, Dwayne Bennett.

Dwayne, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Music is my life, It may sound clichè or even corny however it’s a true statement. I have been enveloped by Music my whole life. I grew up in a musical family and fell in love with every aspect of the world of music. Born into a family comprised of songwriters, producers, musicians, and singers, my first music teacher was my mother, who also sings and plays multiple instruments. I followed in her footsteps and ate the age of four I started out on the drums, and as I to older, I began to also hone my skills on the keyboard, bass guitar, lead guitar, and the microphone as a singer. While my musical career began in the church, It has flourished in multiple settings. Over the years, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to play for and with some of the industries elites such as Flo Rida, Kim Burrell, Jennifer Lopez, Betty Wright, Jagged Edge, Yolanda Adams, Kanye West, Cris Cab, and Bootsy Collins. I have also had the privilege to play on national television shows like ABC’s “THE VIEW,” “Good Morning America,” and MTV’s “Video Music Awards.” These days I’m focusing more on being an artist and mentor to those who may desire to take a similar path for their life.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. My artist/stage name is actually my middle name, “Saint Orbin”. My music reflects various elements of my life so in it you may hear some Caribbean influence, RnB mixed with gospel, and you’ll hear a lot of thought-provoking messages in my music.

We live in a world where our senses are being overloaded and force-fed information at such a fast pace that people are allowing media whether social or mass media and even religion to control our thoughts and actions. The undertone of a lot of my music is to challenge us all to take ownership of our thought space. We should be able to acknowledge where the source of our influence comes from but make our own conscious decisions to follow that influence or blaze our own trails.

I started a company called Collective Creators Music Group that allows me to help and mentor up and coming artist. I want to be able to help others navigate not necessarily around but through some of the difficulties that I have faced and still, face as a creative. CCMG is also a resource center for those looking for reliable musicians, singers, photographers, etc. All of my trustworthy relationships become our clients’ relationships.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
There is a lane and an audience for everyone. Just be and do the absolute best at what you want to present to the world and surround yourself with honest yet positive thinkers who help you have a forward motion.
