Today we’d like to introduce you to Hexproof FL.
Hexproof FL, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
We are a group of incredibly determined musicians that originally began as an acoustic project back in late 2015 and later made an effort to become a ‘Full Band’ in 2016. We’ve played over 50 shows with some great local and national artists as we’ve continued to expand the territory we play in more and more by the month! In our time, we’ve had a lot of good, bad, terrible, and absolutely great experiences that have helped shape us and our goals for the long run. One point of our mission is to keep moving forward, and hope to portray that message to our fans and through our glorious soundscapes and relatable lyricism! We also aim to make people have just as much fun as we do when we perform!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
From rocking out and head banging on the stage, to a unique mixture of melodic flair, and relatable/in-your-face lyricism of everyday situations, some folks have described our sound like a bit of a ‘hybrid-alternative-genre’; that derives from the different musical backgrounds we all come from – such as punk and rock groups, classical and jazz training, various choirs, and even extremely different tastes of music!
What makes us so close isn’t the fact that Ken slaps a mean bass, Atlanta belts vocals for days, Josh lays down some sick beats or Sean can set a fretboard on fire, but our united passion about spreading our message.
We hope what people can take from our music is this:
No matter what setbacks may come your way, and regardless of what others might say or do to put you down as a person or for what you’re trying to do, DO NOT STOP MOVING FORWARD; prove to them that they are wrong, throw away everyday excuses, and break down the barriers to embrace your passions, and achieve what you set your mind to. DO NOT GIVE UP, because hard work, dedication, determination, and patience do in fact pay off, and you are not alone in your journey.
Art – whether musical, on a canvas, on a screen, through written or spoken word, and so on provides a highway of sorts for our message, and YOUR message, to spread wide enough to reach anyone who has been in the situations we’ve been through or you’ve been through.
We will always and unconditionally be right here to encourage and empower you in making your passions, dreams or goals a livable reality; we understand how everyone else seems to disappear when you need them most.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
We believe in the concept that everything seems to happen for a reason – whether good OR bad.
All of the long hours of studio, all of the designing and planning, all of the songwriting, all of the crazy idea sharing, all of the people that will help you, and all of the people that will do their best to break you – take all of it, and use it to fuel the fire that burns inside you to keep you motivated so that you can achieve your dreams.
We definitely have not had it easy in our two years, but all of those challenges make some great stories in the present, and they’re something that can help you learn in the long run!
Another thing; SUPPORT ALL KINDS OF ART – ESPECIALLY IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY!!
And stick together, because art shouldn’t be a competition, and too often nowadays, it’s made out to be.
Keep this in mind too; you should want to grow – not only on your own but within your artistic or musical community as well!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
