Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Gutierrez.
Bryan, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My journey as a tattoo artist began somewhere around 2015. I was back in Ny visiting my home town in Long Island. I ended up seeing an old friend of mine, who at the time was on house arrest and had a tattoo machine. He would tattoo his buddies when they came over for shits & giggles. Growing up I was into graffiti & always had a passion for art, and because of that he thought I should try out tattooing. He let me do a small letter “R” on his leg & I was instantly hooked.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Although I do various tattoo styles, I’m mainly known for my floral work. I don’t think it was ever my intention to tattoo a lot of flowers, but I’m glad I fell into it. Tattooing flowers made me appreciate nature, Earth is a beautiful place & I’m happy to see people represent that on their bodies. I like that a lot of the time they have a story behind them, whether that’s their mom’s favorite flower or the flowers that grew in their childhood home or simply because flowers are cool. It almost makes me feel like a botanist because of how many I do & how familiar I am with them. I love tattooing floral, but I don’t like limiting myself to just that, I’m interested in a lot of different things & have fun tattooing a variety of things
Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
It’s a lot easier for artists to get exposure today. The internet & social media lets us be free & share our content with the world. We can reach so many people now with a simple tap on our screen. I think the art scene in Miami plays a huge role in the city with events like Art Basel & so many art galleries. Wynwood is such a great example of art thriving in the city, it’s an area where so many artists come & just create. It’s important to have an environment to have artists be free & do what they do.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Instagram has become a resume for a lot of people now a day, including me. @Bryan.gee is where you’d find my portfolio. Word of mouth plays a big part as well, I love when clients tell me all the compliments they receive on their tattoos. New followers, comments & likes plays the biggest impact, it motivates me to push more content.
