Art & Life with Alan Matheus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Matheus.

Alan Gabriel Matheus was born in Weston, Florida, USA in June 7, 2001. His parents are originally from Venezuela, and they live in Florida since 1985. His father enjoys playing the drums and the guitar he always wanted his sons to learn to play music instruments. Alan started playing the guitar and singing since he was six years old. His uncle, Alfredo Matheus (Matheus10), is a successful songwriter, sound engineer and music producer and up to now, he has won 5 Grammys. He definitely influenced and inspired Alan to sing and learn music, and since a young age, Alan performed in all the family events.

While attending middle school at Weston Christian Academy, Alan always formed part of the praise band and used to play the guitar and sing regularly.

In 2015, at the age of 14 years old, he participated in Univision’s LA BANDA TV series in Miami, Florida, which is a singing competition created by Simon Cowell and produced by Ricky Martin. The goal of the series was to find the most talented young teens to form a band of 5 members and become a musical phenomenon. From the very beginning of the show, the three judges (Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, and Alejandro Sanz) were very impressed by Alan’s singing and supported him throughout the show. Alan was the youngest participant and is very happy and proud to have advanced among the ten finalists out of more than 5,000 participants. The five chosen finalists formed the very successful boyband known as CNCO.

After leaving La Banda, Alan learned how to record and produce music in his home studio using popular recording software such as Studio One, ProTools and FL Studio. Along with his brother Oliver Matheus on the piano, Alan regularly produced several music covers and music videos and posted them on his YouTube channel and other social media networks.

Since 2016, Alan have been writing and recording original songs, and some of them are now available online in all the major digital platforms. In 2016, Alan released his first original song called That Dream. Later in 2017, he released the song The Way. At the beginning of 2018, Alan released the song I’m Feeling Good featuring his good friend and rapper from La Banda, Aaron Bodden. On June 2018 he released the song Voodoo, and on January 2019 he released Qualities.

Alan has been invited to sing and has performed in many local events where the majority have been not for profit and for noble causes to collect funds for humanitarian assistance.

He’s a member of distinguished organization ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. His goal is to write many more songs and to produce an album that will inspire the young generation of artist by setting an example of dedication and determination to succeed.

Alan is currently a senior attending Cypress Bay High School. His favorite sport to play is Tennis, and he has been playing it regularly since he was six years old.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Currently, I am making beats and writing lots of music with a team that I really enjoy working with. We have written reggaeton, trap, R&B, and more, however, my personal style at the moment is definitely reggaeton or a sort of trap-influenced R&B. I recently released my latest single “Qualities” on all platforms which fits into the second category. I hope that what people take away from my music is that uniqueness is not bad.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
I think the biggest challenge of being an artist nowadays is all the work that’s going to come with it. Nowadays artists have to do most of the work themselves at least when starting up. Including writing songs, recording their own music themselves, producing music videos, managing their social media and promoting the music. Artists have to do a lot of work initially to be able to blow up especially with all the competition.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
