Ariana Roque of Miami Lakes on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ariana Roque. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ariana, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I recently bought my first condo, and I feel so proud of myself. I’ve been taking care of my home every day—whether it’s perfecting my own bone broth (it’s been coming out so good lately), having friends over, or doing laundry. Even the little mundane tasks in my new home have been bringing me so much joy, because they’re a physical manifestation of how far I’ve come. I feel truly blessed by God.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi Voyage MIA! I’m so happy to be back with you all. The last interview I did was in 2020, and I feel like so much has changed since then. I’ve now had my esthetician license for 10 years (wow—time really flies when you’re having fun!), and I’ve been blessed to learn from some of the best in the industry.

Now, I’m excited to be on my own and see what I’m truly capable of. I have my own cozy little spa space in Miami Lakes, where I spend my days doing what I love most—facials.

I genuinely believe in the power of touch, and I think we all have our own unique gifts—we just need to pursue them with passion and share that loving energy with the world.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Hands down, my mother. She is the most incredible woman. Growing up, she was always working—and always for herself. She’s very entrepreneurial, and she got that from her dad, my grandpa—the legend, Felix Reynoso.

The greatest thing about my mom is that she makes hard work look so easy. Oh my goodness, I remember thinking as a kid, “Yeah, I want to do what my mommy does.” But then I got older, started paying bills, and realized just how hard it is to get up every day and have that kind of discipline.

When you work for yourself, you have to develop the skill of self-discipline. Motivation is garbage—it comes and goes—but consistency is forever. And that’s my mom through and through. No matter what, she has always shown up for her work. She has the best work ethic and reputation, and that has shaped me in so many ways.

One thing she always used to say to me was, “Ariana, people are always watching. Always do the right thing, and it will always pay off.” She really instilled that in me and my sister growing up—and it’s never left us.

She also kept her clients for over 20 years, which always inspired me—especially in the fast-paced world we live in. To be able to build and maintain relationships like that speaks volumes about her integrity and the love she puts into her work. That’s something I strive for in my own business every day.

She truly cares about everyone, and that has deeply influenced how I work and how I treat my clients. She’s not just an inspiration—she’s the blueprint.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
My naivety—lol. When I was around 18, I started my very own skincare line. I was so passionate and pursued it with everything I had. Looking back, that was such a special time in my life. I genuinely believed that “no” just meant “not right now,” and I think there’s something really precious about that kind of mindset.

Because honestly, if we knew how hard things would be before we started… we might never do anything at all. So I really miss that summer—it was such a sweet, fearless chapter in my life.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Oof—this is such a big topic right now, especially with how quickly things trend in the skincare industry. For me, I always look for data. Yes, it’s amazing if someone is glowing—but is that glow from a product, or just great genetics? Is there real truth behind it? Is it backed by science? Are there clinical studies that prove it actually works?

I would say I’m a mix of heart and science when it comes to my business. I’m very intuitive when it comes to my clients’ needs, but I only use what I know to be tried and true—which means it’s been clinically tested and backed by real data.

At the end of the day, my clients trust me to make the right decisions for their skin—and I take that responsibility seriously. That’s why I never chase fads—I stay grounded in what works.

I’ll never jump on a trend just because it’s popular. My question is always: Can it withstand the test of time? That’s what I’m always looking for—and I think that’s what truly sets me apart.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Okay, I love this question. Some of your greatest work might never be seen by others. A friend recently sent me an article about the restaurant entrepreneur Jiro Ono, who runs an incredible restaurant in Japan that’s so exclusive, it can take up to three years to get a reservation—even the Prime Minister had to book in advance.

What fascinated me most was that every day, Jiro arrives at 5 a.m., stretches, cleans his fingers, and carefully reviews every inch of the fish he’ll be serving that day. And what I loved most is that he calls this his “practice,” not work.

If this interview never existed, I doubt anyone would even know the depth of his daily devotion. There are no shortcuts—only relentless dedication.

For me, my business is that same kind of daily devotion. So much goes into it every single day that most people will never see. But I give it my best, no matter what—and that’s what truly matters.
