An Inspired Chat with Meghan Gilboa of Boca Raton

Meghan Gilboa shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Meghan, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’d say I’m doing a little bit of both—and that balance has shaped my journey as a founder. Facialworks gave me a clear path, teaching me the discipline of building a brand and connecting with clients in meaningful ways. That foundation is what led me to create Plunge Skincare, a line rooted in intention: nervous system regulation, ocean-powered ingredients, and a gentler approach to anti-aging.

At the same time, I’ve learned to leave space for wandering. Some of my best ideas don’t come from a linear plan but from giving myself permission to explore—through travel, time in nature, or simply experimenting in product development. The path keeps me grounded, while the wandering leaves room for discovery. That mix is what has allowed me to build two brands in the beauty and wellness space, and what makes Plunge feel not just like a skincare line, but a movement toward a calmer, more connected way of living.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Meghan Gilboa, an entrepreneur in the skincare industry and the founder of both Facialworks and Plunge Skincare. With Facialworks, I set out to reimagine the spa experience and create a space where advanced skincare could feel both approachable and results-driven. Over time, we grew into multiple locations and welcomed thousands of clients each month, giving me a front-row seat to the evolving ways people care for their skin and what they truly need from products and treatments.

That perspective led me to launch Plunge Skincare. The line is built around multifunctional formulas powered by ocean-derived ingredients, designed for gentle anti-aging and nervous system support. At Plunge, every product is created with intention—efficacious formulas that work across multiple concerns while protecting the skin barrier. To me, Plunge is the evolution of everything I’ve learned: a brand that honors science, nature, and the ritual of taking care of your skin.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of the moments that shaped how I see the world was opening the doors to my first Facialworks spa. I had spent so much time behind the scenes building the concept, but the first time I watched clients come in, connect, and leave transformed, I realized skincare is so much more than surface-level. It can be healing, relational, even joyful. That moment changed how I saw both my work and the industry—it showed me that creating space for people to care for themselves has a ripple effect. It’s the same philosophy guiding Plunge Skincare: formulas that don’t just target one issue but support the whole person.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been many times I could have given up—entrepreneurship has a way of testing you over and over. In the early days of Facialworks, our very first store flooded. We were cash-strapped, juggling construction and demo, all while trying to open two more locations at the same time. It felt impossible. Add in the challenges of team building, leadership growing pains, and all the unexpected fires that come with building a business—and there were plenty of moments where walking away would have been easier.

But looking back, those seasons shaped me. Each time I made it through, I became a little stronger, a little steadier, and a little more prepared for the next hurdle. The things that once would have broken me now don’t even faze me. That resilience is what gave me the courage to start Plunge Skincare. Instead of letting challenges stop me, I’ve learned to see them as the forge that strengthens me.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
The skincare industry is full of trends—whether it’s a viral ingredient or a routine that promises overnight transformation. The way I separate hype from real innovation is by testing, learning, and watching results over time. At Facialworks, we’ve seen thousands of clients each month, so I’ve had a unique window into what actually works on real skin, not just in marketing. That perspective is what shapes Plunge Skincare—our formulas are rooted in science, designed to be multifunctional, and proven to support the skin barrier. For me, it’s never about chasing trends; it’s about building products that will stand the test of time.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think our customers would miss the sense of care and trust we’ve built. At Facialworks, people know they’ll be welcomed, cared for, and leave feeling better than when they came in. With Plunge Skincare, it’s the trust that every product has been created with intention—formulas that are multifunctional, ocean-powered, and truly designed with their needs in mind. That relationship of trust is what matters most to me, and what I believe customers value most too.
