Maria Teresa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Upon rising I enjoy spending time in meditation. This usually includes listening to sound frequencies. I invite my spirit guides in. Then I ask the team, “what is the most important information I need to know” for my day ahead. I call this tapping into my field. Since my spiritual awakening in 2019 I begin each day focusing on the development of different daily rituals and practices. My health and well-being are of the utmost importance. I begin the day with grounding into the vibration of inner peace.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Maria Teresa Pratico-Swanson is a heart-centered and highly conscious healer who embraces her sensitivities as superpowers. Living her motto, “Triumphing over Trauma”, by conquering her own traumatic experiences, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, an addiction to drugs and alcohol, and an eating disorder, Maria has emerged as an empowered psychic medium and channel with a unique ability to see souls.
Gifted in all the “clairs,” Maria serves as a conduit for Spirit, offering transformative healing services as a master shamanic healer assisting her clients in soul retrieval, chakra balancing/transplants, past life regression, and more. Maria is also a Light language artist and uses this ability to help transform her clients during sessions. Her life, centered in peace, love, and joy, allows her to channel the power of Divine light and love energy to uplift and balance her clients’ mind, body, and spirit connection.
As a soul healer guided by Spirit, Maria focuses on the intricacies of her clients’ holistic healing needs. A published poet with six books of channeled poetry, she inspires spiritual awakening, development, self-love, and empowerment. Maria’s trust and empathy put clients at ease as they face profound, life-changing moments.
Maria has written six more manuscripts of poetry and is currently working on her thirteenth collection. Her poetry was recently featured in a newly released book called, “Starseeds, my soul’s journey ” which is already a bestseller.
Maria Teresa is the creator of the brands Emotional Musings and The Musing Shaman, conducting healing sessions in person and long distance all over the world. Ms. Pratico is a three time triathlete placing first in her age group. Maria is a master in movement medicine having studied all forms of dance since the age of two. Maria has held her daily yoga practice sacred for over 25 years. She speaks to audiences of all ages and backgrounds as a spoken word artist and a motivational speaker. Her work in personal development and self-help can serve anyone on the spiritual path to a higher consciousness and enlightenment of the heart and soul. Maria is well versed in holistic health and understands the importance of obtaining and maintaining the mind, body and spirit connection.
Maria enjoys dancing, singing, chanting, channeling Light language and poetry. She believes laughter is the best medicine. She’s often found on the beach which is her happy place. She views the world through the lens of love and calls herself a rainbow unicorn.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that never felt like she was enough while simultaneously digesting the judgment from others that told me I was too much. I release the wounded little girl who believed she needed to hide in order to fit in and be accepted. I tried for a time to behave like everybody else. There are parts of me that became too protective of my Light and thus dimmed it’s shine. I honor these versions of myself, the pieces that have been healed because they are now the compassionate warrior voices within that tell me I am strong, I’m ready to lead and that nothing can stop me anymore!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes there is one specific time in 2011 when I attempted to take my own life. I was drowning in alcoholism and drug addiction, battling an eating disorder while struggling through a messy divorce. I found myself involved in a very toxic relationship with a man who beat me, raped me and attempted to strangle me multiple times. I knew he had the power to kill me. I took back control by swallowing a bottle of pills and chasing it with alcohol. I found myself in a psychiatric facility for ten days. That was the beginning of my healing journey. I found the inspiration to succed in my two boys. I want them to be proud of their mother. To know that healing is possible and that suffering indeed ends.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m fully committed to helping others on their healing journeys. That’s the mission of my blog, Emotional Musings. Living by my motto of “Triumphing over Trauma”, I help inspire others through the truth of my testimony in strength, resiliency and the power of self-love. I believe I’m here to help humanity heal one heart at a time through poetry and shamanic healing. I never want anyone to feel alone or that something is wrong with them the way that I did for so long. I walk besides others as they recognize and remember their own light and brilliance. I believe that is my duty as a human being. I hold a servant’s heart and am honored to be of service to others in need.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
The power that we have as human beings through our innate connection to all that is. I’ve always been able to communicate with spirits. There is so much more to this life on Earth that we can’t see with our eyes, only feel. We all possess psychic abilities and the knowingness of these skills is rapidly growing. We are in a great awakening to higher consciousness on our planet. The largest leap of its kind in human history. There are beings from different dimensions that are here to help us along with our own passed over loved ones. This belief is what I guide others to accept and work with for their own healing. We have given our power away to systems that no longer work. Too many of us are sick, struggling and suffering. Holistic healing has completely changed my life and I’ve witnessed it change the clients who choose to work with me. Co-creation with one another and the universe unfolds through the heart centered intention to share our authentic self, our sovereign nature through the feeling experience of being human.
