Lonnie G shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Lonnie, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
One thing outside of work that’s been bringing me joy has been enjoying my hobbies. I’ve been getting back into reading books more & writing/journaling. Just being in nature & have time to reflect introspectively. I love peace & quiet. Also so much fire music has been dropping by some of my favorite artists. I’ve enjoyed that a lot. Really taking in art from my peers & ones I’m inspired has keep me in a good space.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a versatile individual, however many people know me as a Traveling Private Vegan Chef. I put an innovative, vibrant, yet health conscious approach to food. I’ve been into culinary arts since I was younger. 10+ years in the game I’m an “OG” now. With every dish I’m showcasing that we don’t have to consume animals & eating plantbased can be nourishing & a fun experience. Intentional & Experimental.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I had to shrink myself & dim my light to make others feel comfortable. That expressing myself & being too loud or too different was dangerous. That being humble somehow was more noble. Over the years I had to learn, especially once I moved and starting living on my own accord, that I have to be my full authentic self. People will always have something to say or judge you in one form or fashion. Stay true to yourself & you’ll connect with the people who align with you, and the opportunities will come as well.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’m so proud of you, keep striving & remember your power. ALWAYS BET ON YOURSELF !!! You’re more than capable, you’ll continue to learn as you grow. Embrace what makes you different & be courageous.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
That we create our own reality through our imagination & mindset. First on an individual basis & then a collective basis. Science & Spirituality is more interconnected than we ever have thought. The left & right brain explains this. As a society we still have a lot to learn. But the consciousness of the world is evolving. That’s why even what I do as a Chef is helping the collective think differently & challenging the status quo of what we’ve been conditioned to think.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m present in the moment, my inner state is calm. Even in the midst of chaos I know it’s all mental. Peace of mind also comes when I can stim, when I get to be in a quiet environment, spending time with my friends & peers. Vibing music enjoying my hobbies, writing poems, sitting by the beach hearing the water, super serene.
