An Inspired Chat with Lindsey Lamchick of Coral Gables

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lindsey Lamchick. Check out our conversation below.

Lindsey, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
I really learn from my clients every day, many of who are visionaries in their own fields, and that pushes me to elevate how I deliver in mine. I also learn a lot from my peers in real estate and my fellow founding partners at Side. We have ongoing conversations, share ideas, and challenge each other, and that kind of exchange keeps me constantly growing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the founder of The Edit, a Miami-based luxury real estate firm. My background as both an attorney and real estate broker allows me to bring a strategic approach to every transaction. What sets The Edit apart is our all-women team of real estate professionals, most of whom are attorneys as well, and we all operate with the sophistication of a law firm but the creativity of a boutique brand. I started my career in New York, and since moving to Miami, I’ve built deep connections across both markets, which helps me guide high-net-worth clients who are relocating or expanding their lifestyle here. Right now, I’m focused on continuing to raise the standard of luxury service in Miami real estate and expanding the reach of The Edit as a trusted brand.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Leaving a traditional legal path to build my own brand in real estate was a moment that completely reshaped how I see the world. I had followed the structured, predictable path: law school, passing the bar, practicing law, but I realized that my strengths and passions were pulling me in another direction. Moving from New York to Miami for law school was part of that evolution too as it was my first time really stepping out on my own, and I still remember the freedom of traveling without my parents for the first time. That sense of independence shaped how I see the world ever since. Today, I’m grateful that building The Edit not only allows me to align my career with my passions, but also gives me the freedom to travel often, which is something that inspires me personally and fuels my creativity professionally.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life came shortly after I left Douglas Elliman, after more than a decade, to start my own company. Just months into building The Edit from the ground up, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I wasn’t just a real estate broker or full-time cancer patient, I now had to grow a brand, a team, and a business while going through 16 rounds of chemotherapy and five surgeries. Today, I’m cancer free, and while people often assume that means I’m “done,” the truth is healing isn’t linear. Being a survivor is its own journey, and I’m still learning to navigate my new normal.
My diagnosis doesn’t define me, but it reshaped how I see life. I’ve leaned on support, from somatic therapy to joining a rowing team of survivors, launched Project Disco Ball to help others, and share my story publicly to inspire. I also ran a 1/2 marathon, and I’m doing it again. Setting bigger goals, pushing limits, and continuing to grow has become part of my healing.
Now I’m a certified buyers agent, and ranked in the top 1.5% of realtors nationwide. Nothing can stop me from pursuing my goals, breaking boundaries, and creating the life and business I want.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that I do too much and that I’m always busy. Some joke and ask if they should pretend to be interested in moving so that we can spend time together looking at houses. They would also say I’m ambitious and driven, and that I never settle and am always pushing myself to grow, whether it’s running marathons, building my business, or learning something new. They’d also say I’m very loyal and supportive, the kind of person who celebrates wins and shows up during the hard moments. I think they’d describe me as optimistic and inspiring, someone who finds silver linings and encourages others to keep going, even when life gets tough. At the same time, I’m adventurous and fun, and love traveling and exploring the world. And above all, they’d say I’m authentic and relatable, someone who isn’t afraid to share my story, be vulnerable, and connect with people on a real level.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop spending time on things that don’t truly matter, the unnecessary obligations, distractions, or things that drain my energy without giving back. I’d stop saying yes out of obligation rather than desire, and I’d stop striving for perfection in every little thing. Instead, I’d focus on what really lights me up: meaningful experiences, growth, and deep connections with the people I love. I’d spend less time at home and travel even more with family and friends, exploring new places and creating memories that last a lifetime.
