Hi Josephine, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One of the most deeply fulfilling and proud moments I’ve experienced in recent months has been writing and publishing my book, Mujer Que Inspira. This wasn’t just about putting words on paper it was the realization of a dream that has lived in my heart for many years.

For the longest time, I’ve carried the desire to create something for women something that would not only inspire but empower them to rise, to heal, and to grow into the best version of themselves. I wanted to pour love, faith, and strength into each page, so that any woman holding my book would feel seen, supported, and spiritually uplifted.

Through Mujer Que Inspira, I’ve had the chance to share the transformative power of daily prayer how it can ground us, guide us, and remind us of our worth even on the hardest days. Writing this book wasn’t easy. It required strength, persistence, and courage. But seeing it come to life, knowing that it now lives in the hands of women who are searching for hope or clarity, fills me with joy and pride that I can’t quite put into words.

It’s more than just a book it’s a piece of my heart, a testament to faith, and a message to every woman.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Josephine Cancel, a proud wife, mother, and grandmother but also a passionate entrepreneur, mentor, author, and motivational speaker. Born in the Dominican Republic, I’ve always carried within me a deep calling to inspire and uplift others. That passion led me to create JC Inspires Foundation and JC Inspires International, both of which reflect my mission to empower people and promote growth on a local and global scale.

Throughout my journey, I’ve been blessed with opportunity to encourage and connect with people from all walks of life. Through speaking engagements and mentoring, I’ve been able to help others find confidence, hope, and the strength to pursue their purpose.

One of my greatest joys is serving as the President of JC Inspires Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to bringing support and love to underprivileged children both in south florida, my home country and abroad. Alongside my family, I’ve had the honor of distributing clothing, toys, and essentials Resources to thousands of children and expectant mothers. Seeing their smiles reminds me why this mission matters so much.

Empowering women is another passion close to my heart. Through our initiatives , Inspiring Women’s Conference and Club de Madres – Mujeres Empoderadas, we’ve launched groups in vulnerable communities across the Dominican Republic, with the vision of expanding internationally. These groups focus on mentorship, practical skills training, and personal development because I believe very women deserves the tools to thrive, no matter her circumstances.

My story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose and I believe that we are all capable of extraordinary things when we walk in our calling. I invite you to join me on this journey of hope, empowerment, and endless possibility.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that being “good” meant always pleasing others and never making mistakes. I thought that if I followed all the rules, stayed quiet, didn’t question authority, and made sure everyone liked me, then I was doing life right.

For a long time, that belief shaped everything I did. I was constantly trying to be what others expected of me, even when it cost me my voice, my needs, or my dreams.

But that belief has shifted.

Now I understand that real growth, authenticity, and purpose come from asking hard questions, setting boundaries, and making bold choices—even when they make others uncomfortable. Sometimes, being true to yourself means disappointing people. Sometimes, it means failing and learning. But I’ve learned that it’s better to be real than to be approved.

I no longer define my worth by how many people I please—I define it by how aligned I am

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was a time I almost gave up—when I was sick and overwhelmed with fear. My mind was full of doubts, limitations, and worst-case scenarios. I kept thinking about my daughters, and that made it even harder. I felt powerless, like I was failing them. But in the middle of that darkness, something inside me refused to give up. I realized I couldn’t let fear write the rest of my story. I chose to fight—not just for me, but for them, and for the purpose I knew God still had for my life. That moment changed me. It reminded me that true strength isn’t about never feeling afraid—it’s about moving forward in spite of it.”

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I am genuine, transparent, and strong. What you see is a true reflection of a woman of faith and unwavering commitment. I don’t wear masks—I walk in truth and purpose.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I was a woman of inspiration—bold, joyful, and full of real values. That I lived with no limits, and even though my life was not easy, I chose to shape my own path and create the most beautiful version of Josephine. A brave heart, strong yet tender, full of wisdom and honesty. I hope they remember me as someone who loved deeply, who gave generously, and who used her life to serve the needy and change the story of her generation.
