An Inspired Chat with Fred King

Fred King shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Fred, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes — a few times. As a YouTuber, I work with different brands, and not every proposal comes in solid on the first try. I’ve had situations where a client sent an offer that wasn’t workable, and instead of rejecting it right away, I waited a day or two. In several cases, they came back on their own with a much better offer before I even replied.

That’s when I set one of my negotiation rules: don’t rush your first response. Giving yourself a little time to think can turn a weak offer into a strong one without any unnecessary back-and-forth.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Fred King — a Bitcoiner and the founder of CryptoSnake, a YouTube channel focused on clear, practical education about blockchain and self-custody.

The channel has grown to almost 300,000 subscribers, and we review hardware and software wallets, interview industry leaders, and provide on-the-ground coverage of major blockchain conferences. My goal is to explain this space in a way that’s simple, honest, and useful for everyday people.

I’m also a part-time musician behind the MusicSnake project, which adds a creative balance to my work in the crypto world.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful goes back to when I was 12. I got my first job working as a loader, unloading bricks at a construction site. When I received my first paycheck, I went to a street market and bought a pair of bold, flashy pants — something my parents would never have agreed to buy for me. In that moment, I felt a sense of independence for the first time. It was the feeling of earning something on my own, and it made me feel unstoppable.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes — more than once. I’ve worked on different projects over the years, and a few of them didn’t work out. Each time it was tough, and I definitely had moments when I wondered if I should just walk away. But after taking a step back, I always found the drive to keep going. Those setbacks ended up teaching me more about resilience than any win ever did.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
The important truth that my close circle and people in the blockchain space agree with me on is that Bitcoin is one of the last real sources of freedom we have. Most people don’t see it that way, but I truly believe that if we fail to protect it — especially from future risks like quantum attacks — we could lose a major layer of financial freedom. And once that’s gone, getting it back won’t be easy.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If clinical immortality ever becomes real — and I think powerful quantum computers could make that possible in the next 20–30 years — I’d focus on building something that highlights human uniqueness.

In a future shaped by advanced AI and humanoid automation, I’d want to create something that puts our creativity, personality, and individuality at the center. I don’t know what the exact product would look like yet, but the mission would stay the same: keeping the human side of humanity front and center.
