We recently had the chance to connect with DJ Zapmar and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning DJ, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One recent moment that really made me feel proud was DJing at the Life Time Miami Marathon start line. Being there before sunrise and seeing over 18,500 runners lined up with that mix of excitement, nerves, and determination was powerful.
In that moment, my job went beyond just playing music. It was about setting the energy and helping people lock in before taking on a huge personal challenge. Watching runners smile, move, and feed off the music reminded me how much energy and mindset matter.
What made it even more meaningful was hearing back from runners afterward. The messages and comments saying the music helped them get into the right headspace really stuck with me. It connected everything I do as a DJ, producer, and business owner in a very real way, and it reinforced why I love being part of moments like that.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am DJ Zapmar, a Miami based DJ, music producer, and small business owner. My work blends high energy DJ performances with original Latin House and Afro House inspired music rooted in Miami culture.
What sets my brand apart is my focus on experience. Whether I am DJing a large scale event, a corporate activation, or a community moment, my goal is always to read the room, elevate the energy, and create a connection people remember.
Alongside performing, I share my journey through content and storytelling, showing both the creative and business sides of building a music driven brand. I am currently focused on releasing new music, expanding my reach as a DJ and producer, and continuing to show up for the community that supports my work.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, my biggest lessons about work came from watching my family. I grew up seeing what consistency, responsibility, and showing up every day really looked like. There was no shortcut mentality. You worked hard, you did things the right way, and you took pride in whatever you were responsible for.
That stuck with me early on. Whether it was school, my career, or eventually music, I learned that effort matters and that people remember how reliable you are just as much as how talented you are.
Those lessons still guide how I approach DJing and running my business today. I treat every opportunity with respect, show up prepared, and put in the work even when no one is watching. That foundation has helped me build something sustainable and stay grounded as things continue to grow.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to trust the process and not rush the timeline. Everything I was working toward was going to come together, just not overnight.
There were moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough or moving fast enough, especially when comparing myself to others. Looking back, I see that every phase taught me something important.
I would remind myself to stay patient, keep showing up, and enjoy the journey a little more. The work compounds over time, and real progress comes from pairing consistency with the right pace.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that family, community, and showing up consistently really matter to me. I care a lot about being reliable and present, whether that is for my family, my clients, or the people I work with.
They would also say that I take pride in my work and in doing things the right way, even when it would be easier to cut corners. Music is a big part of my life, but relationships and trust are what keep everything moving forward.
At the end of the day, what matters most to me is creating positive experiences, staying true to who I am, and leaving people better than I found them.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I showed up with intention and treated people the right way. That I cared about the experience, not just the outcome.
I would want to be remembered as someone who brought positive energy into rooms, helped create meaningful moments, and stayed consistent even when no one was watching. Music was my platform, but connection was always the goal.
More than anything, I hope people say I was genuine, dependable, and that I had a positive impact on the people around me.
