Big Solo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Big, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I believe that most people are struggling with the idea of being accomplished, young. So much so that you’re witnessing comparisons and depression at an all time high. Some would say it’s today’s costs of living, others would say it’s social media. Capitalizing on tools accessible to you, your environment, as well as self motivation could be key factors in bringing success through focus. There is also the possibility that your own drive, no matter how far you end up each time you get a spurt of inspiration, still encourages growth, or at least the chance to get closer to whatever goals that you set for yourself. Whatever you do, as long as you do not stop, achievement is definite. First, you have to know what makes you tick in the direction of joy, not envy. Your own dreams, not someone else’s.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone, my stage name is Big Solo. I am a recording artist and talent at Florolina Entertainment, Inc. I have made tons of music and performed all along the east coast for the past five years. Big Solo has just released an album titled: Dr. Smooth. Which released on EVEN (July 2025), and later to all platforms. At Florolina, we specialize in enhancing creativity and encouraging independent artists of all mediums to express themselves on their own terms. All of my life I have focused on individuality. I feel that being a creative in South Florida, and online especially in today’s oversaturated climate, you need to have resilience and an original vision.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me where energy was invested in others more than towards myself has served its purpose and must now be released. Making your own self a priority enriches self esteem. I also believe that you will never fail in the end by taking a chance or even multiple chances on yourself. Look at it as an investment, you cannot not help others if you are depleted.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering can change your perspective on life. It made me realize I can do a lot with a little. The idea of suffering also makes what you are longing for/working towards, worth while in the end when you have made all of the sacrifices and put in all of the effort necessary to get out of said jam. Success does not teach you fight and for the most part, what is uncomfortable while you are suffering is generally the mandatory steps taken to reach success.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Soul Food! I may be a Florida man but I am still a Carolina boy. I am protecting dirty south soul food at all cost! If there are any spots in MIA like how Granny used to cook, then point me in that direction!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am listening to original songs that I have made for therapy. When death was at an all time high around me from friends to family members, Big Solo – CnG and Big Solo – Elasticity let me know that everything would be okay.
