An Inspired Chat with Anna Trimmel

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Anna Trimmel. Check out our conversation below.

Anna , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are about aligning my mind, body, and creative energy before stepping into work. I start with coffee—always. That quiet moment with a warm cup grounds me. Then I stretch and do a mix of yoga, Pilates, or brief meditation, or sometimes I simply sit in my garden and breathe. Being surrounded by nature first thing helps me listen to myself before the world gets noisy.

Once I feel centered, I move into emails and messages, and I begin structuring my day. I outline what I’ll focus on—whether it’s painting, developing a new idea, or moving forward with a project. That planning moment is crucial; it gives clarity and intentionality to everything I create. Starting from stillness allows me to show up with purpose in the studio.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Anna Trimmel, a South Florida–based visual artist and founder of Anna Trimmel Arts. My work combines abstract portraiture and cubist influence with layered textures, vibrant colors, and symbolic language. I create what I call Fragmentalist art—pieces that reflect emotional fragmentation and transformation, often incorporating augmented reality to bridge the physical and digital worlds.

Art, for me, is not decoration—it’s dialogue. My practice is deeply rooted in personal history, healing, and the belief that emotions can be translated into visual form. I started drawing as a child when I couldn’t express sadness through words, and that instinct never left me. Today, I explore complex themes such as mental health, resilience, identity, and inner evolution.

What makes my work unique is the way I merge traditional painting with technology, storytelling, and immersive experiences. Viewers don’t just look at my pieces—they interact with them. Whether through AR, custom emotional glyphs, or installation formats, I invite people to step into their own reflection.

Currently, I’m working on a few new projects, including an installation exploring childhood trauma and emotional reclamation, as well as a new project to teach and develop creative experiences, helping others connect with the emotional side of art.

Ultimately, I create to reveal what words cannot carry. My mission is to make art not only seen, but felt.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Speaking from my own experience, what breaks the bonds between people is often silence—when we stop listening, stop trying to understand, or start protecting ourselves with walls instead of vulnerability. Fear, unhealed wounds, ego, and the need to appear strong can slowly replace empathy. Most relationships fracture not because of lack of love, but because we forget to make space for each other’s pain, truth, or evolution.

What restores connection is almost always presence. The moment we genuinely see someone, without judgment or expectation, something shifts. Bonds recover through honest conversation, the courage to be vulnerable, and acts of kindness—especially the small, consistent ones. Art can be a powerful catalyst for this healing. When we recognize ourselves in someone else’s story, everything changes.

Connection returns when we choose understanding over being right, and compassion over control. Sometimes it’s as simple as holding space, saying “I hear you,” or asking, “How does this feel for you?” Relationships are restored in the moment we remember that, beneath the layers, we are all just humans trying to be seen and accepted.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her: I love you. I know the world feels heavy right now, but what is happening to you is not a definition of who you are—it’s just circumstance. You are not broken. You are different, and that difference is your strength.

Success won’t come easily, but resilience will become your superpower. You will learn to turn pain into art, silence into expression, and what once felt like darkness will one day become the light that guides others.

Hold on. Life is full of unexpected beauty, and your dreams are not only possible—they are waiting for you. There are people out there who will love you for exactly who you are, and they will make staying worth it. One day, you will become the person you needed.

And when that day comes, you’ll look back and realize: every fragment of your story made you whole.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to using art as a vehicle for emotional transformation. My lifelong belief is that art is not simply made to be seen—it is meant to be felt, experienced, and understood. Through my work, I translate what words cannot express, turning personal pain into visual language that invites healing.

Whether through Fragmentalism, augmented reality, immersive installations, or my Emotional Codex, I’m dedicated to redefining how people connect with art. I want to create spaces where vulnerability is safe and where viewers can recognize parts of themselves within the work.

This is not a project with a deadline—it’s a lifelong mission. I will continue exploring innovative ways to merge emotion, storytelling, and technology; to empower others through teaching and sharing my process; and to honor authenticity in an industry that often prioritizes trends over truth.

I don’t know how long it will take—but I know I will never stop.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am finally doing what I was born to do.

For many years, I did what I thought I had to do—what was expected, what felt safe, what kept me unnoticed. I stayed quiet, adapted, tried to fit into standards that were never meant for me. But silence is not a life you can sustain when your truth keeps knocking.

Art has always been my voice—the one I found long before I had words. I was not encouraged to express myself, but I did anyway, drawing broken fragments when I couldn’t speak. Over time, I realized I wasn’t simply making art—I was surviving through it.

Today, I create freely and unapologetically. I follow the inner voice I once had to hide. I paint, build, experiment, and even break rules because I was born to translate emotion into form, to start conversations without saying a word. No one told me to do that. I chose it. I fought for it.

And now, I create not because someone asked me to—but because I can’t imagine living any other way.
