Alex Klumpp shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Alex, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’m a big hobbyist. Art class, German class, bowling league, book club. Not necessarily at the same time but I find that having a hobby is soul-fulfilling for me. A gift to yourself and a time to step away from the usual.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Alexandra (Alex) Klumpp and I run @beyondsouthbeach where I showcase Miami beyond its clichés. We hit every cultural pillar: history, architecture, food & drink, parks, the works. The only criteria: it’s not on South Beach….because there’s more to Miami than South Beach. I’ve started to add some commentary-style content, along with more lifestyle content, many starring my family. We’re a close-knit crew, each with a unique personality. People seem to like to our crazy dynamic!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Probably a time I beat my brother in something. 🙂
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Forget timelines! I worked immediately after college (instead of traveling) because I thought I needed to start my career ASAP to be at a certain level by a certain age. I’ve pivoted a couple times since then and now realize I could have entered the game later. It’s become almost cliché to talk about because so many people relate but it’s worth repeating. And as a woman, of course, other timelines too…But everything in due time. Gotta trust the timing of your life!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
It is! Of course it’s not the full me but what it seen is me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I am now! I just moved back to Miami full-time after three years in NYC. I had a great experience but being in the corporate world became a bit soul-sucking. I’m excited to be back in my city, building my brand. I feel a fire in my belly I hadn’t felt in a very long time. It’s such a great feeling. I’m working with my own clients and focusing on BSB! LFG!
