We recently had the chance to connect with Cara Pitch Gregg and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Cara, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Honestly, I would say energy, hands down. You can feel someone’s energy the moment they walk into a room—it tells you everything you need to know before they even say a word. When someone brings positive, genuine energy, it inspires everyone around them and sets the tone for the whole environment. It’s kinda like ballet—it sets the foundation for all other forms of dance. You can teach skills and build knowledge, but that natural energy and passion? That’s what makes everything come alive.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Cara Pitch Gregg, the owner and director of 5678 Dance Inc. — a mobile dance company that brings the love of dance directly into schools, community centers, and neighborhoods across South Florida. We’ve been inspiring dancers of all ages for over 18 years through creative, high-energy classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, cheer, musical theatre, acro, and more.
What makes 5678 Dance special is our mission to make dance accessible and joyful for every child — not just those who train in traditional studios. We turn cafeterias, clubhouses, and rec centers into studios where confidence and creativity shine. I started this company with the belief that dance should meet kids where they are, and I’m proud that today we teach hundreds of students each week and have reached thousands over the years.
Right now, we’re expanding our programs into new cities, growing our “For the Love of Dance” brand, and preparing for our next big recitals in May 2026. We have 10 shows!!!!
Every day, I get to share the joy, discipline, and artistry of dance — and that’s truly what makes it all worth it.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My father, Eddie, definitely taught me the most about work. He was the hardest-working person I’ve ever known — dedicated, driven, and always leading by example. He showed me that success doesn’t come from shortcuts; it comes from consistency, heart, and showing up every single day. Sadly, he passed away in June 2024, but everything I do carries a little piece of what he taught me. His work ethic and strength continue to inspire me every day — both in life and in how I run my business.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, “You’re doing great — stop worrying so much.” Everything you’re stressing about will work out exactly how it’s meant to. Trust your instincts, keep your energy positive, and don’t lose that sparkle that makes you you. Life will test you, but it will also reward you in ways you could never imagine.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is people — the relationships I build, the energy I bring, and the difference I can make in someone’s day. I care deeply about my family, my students, and my dance team — they’re all part of my dance family. I always want everyone around me to feel valued, supported, and inspired. Whether it’s in the studio, at an event, or in everyday life, I lead with heart and passion. For me, success isn’t just about what you achieve — it’s about how you make others feel along the way.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Yes — I am 100% doing what I was born to do. I truly believe that when you’re living your purpose, it doesn’t just feel like work — it feels like art. I’ve always known that dance was my calling, not just because I love to move, but because I love what dance brings out in others: confidence, joy, and connection.
If I were doing something I was simply “told” to do, it never would’ve lasted this long. The late nights, the rehearsals, the costumes, the endless planning — it all takes passion, not obligation. I was meant to create spaces where dancers of all ages can shine, grow, and feel seen. Every time I step into a studio or school programs I see one of my students light up on stage, it’s a reminder that this isn’t just my career — it’s my purpose.
Dance has always been my language, my heartbeat, and my way of giving back — so yes, I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
