Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gonzalez
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Oh boy! It’s hard to know where to start—I’ve done so many things to get to where I am today. My name is Ashley Gonzalez, 27 year old known as the “Dancing Realtor”. Miami Born and raised, I love to sell this city, I love the gym, I love to push myself daily and try to live to most balanced life i possibly can! It all started when I was young and new that numbers and dancing were my thing. But for so many years I have been wondering and figuring out how I can mix the two together. Since the age of 3, I have danced different style of dance like: ballet, pointe, jazz funk, flamenco, belly dance, shuffling, hip hop, and some contemporary styles. When growing up I thought that I would’ve become an accountant and had opened up my own firm but after working as an audit intern at one of the Top 25 accounting firm in Coral gables, FL, I knew I wanted more with my time. Fun fact: I have been an Ultra Angel for the past 3 years for Ultra Music Festival.
Do not get me wrong, I really enjoyed working at the firm and had the most amazing co-workers and bosses, but I just knew I wanted to be my OWN boss. I was also told by multiple people in my family that they do not see my behind a desk all day and not interacting with people and this beautiful city I was born and raised in. I then started studying for my real estate license right before covid started. that year I worked my butt off to get my license and got into a team and had an amazing mentor. I was able to do and learn a lot in my first year, but again I knew I wanted more. I switched to my brokerage now Real estate Sales Force, Owned by Miami’s Real Estate power couple Jorge Guerra Jr, and Dinorah Guerra. Here I have been able to explore different avenues in real estate and become the best Professional I can be to serve my clients at the highest possible value. Throughout these past couple of years while working full time, I received my Bachelor’s in Finance and my Master’s in International Real Estate from Florida International University. With the Masters in Real estate that I just completed classes inJune 2024. I am prepared to continue working on my real estate portfolio so I can get my CCIM, Certified Commerical Investment Management Certification and really sit with the real big commercial brokers in the industry!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Balancing a full-time job while pursuing my undergraduate degree in Finance was challenging, especially while interning as an auditor at a top Miami accounting firm. There were long nights and countless hours of studying, but the support from my mentors and colleagues kept me motivated. Transitioning into real estate and then pursuing a master’s degree in International Real Estate also presented its own set of challenges, but my passion and determination helped me overcome them. Each obstacle taught me resilience and strengthened my commitment to my career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in real estate, focusing on both residential and commercial properties. Known as the ‘Dancing Realtor,’ dance has instilled in me discipline, creativity, and perseverance—qualities that complement my strong analytical skills and attention to detail. My background in finance and my Master’s in International Real Estate provide me with a unique edge in understanding market trends and investment opportunities.
I’m most proud of my ability to balance my professional and personal passions. My dedication to continuous learning and improvement, coupled with genuine enthusiasm for helping people, sets me apart from others in the industry. This blend allows me to offer clients unparalleled service and insights, ensuring their real estate journey is both smooth and successful. I am also proud of being able to sit in leadership and be the 2024 Secretary for Women’s council of Realtors Miami-Dade and 2025 Events Director for Women’s Council of Realtors Miami-Dade.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Starting out in real estate can be both exciting and challenging. Here’s some detailed advice based on my experience; When beginning, prioritize education, training, and NETWORKING. Whether through formal courses or learning from experienced professionals, understanding market dynamics, legal aspects, and financial implications is crucial. Building a strong financial foundation is also key. Save enough to cover living expenses for several months as it may take time to earn commissions. Budget for marketing, licensing fees, and professional dues to ensure a stable start. Networking plays a pivotal role. Establish connections with mentors and peers within the industry. Attend local real estate events, join associations, and seek mentorship from seasoned professionals who can provide guidance and opportunities. Also, remember to attend events with less realtors and more where YOU are needed. Develop specialized knowledge in a niche area of real estate that interests you. Whether it’s residential properties, commercial real estate, or luxury homes, becoming an expert in a specific market segment can set you apart from others.
Invest in marketing and branding early on. Create a professional online presence with a website and social media profiles. Professional photography for property listings and consistent branding across platforms can help build credibility and attract clients. Focus on building strong client relationships based on trust and transparency. Effective communication is essential. Actively listen to clients, understand their needs, and provide timely updates throughout the buying or selling process. Stay adaptable and persistent. Real estate markets can be unpredictable. Adapt to market changes and economic trends while maintaining persistence in pursuing opportunities and overcoming setbacks. Understand the legal aspects of real estate transactions. Familiarize yourself with contracts, negotiations, and local laws to protect yourself and your clients. Stay updated on regulatory changes and seek legal advice when needed. Continuously learn and stay informed about industry trends and best practices. Attend workshops, webinars, and seminars to expand your knowledge and skills. Embrace technology advancements that can streamline processes and enhance client service. Lastly, prioritize self-care and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Real estate can be demanding with irregular hours and high-pressure situations. Take time for exercise, relaxation, and spending time with loved ones to ensure long-term success and well-being.
Reflecting on my journey, I’ve learned the importance of networking early on and the value of establishing a strong online presence. These factors not only open doors to opportunities but also provide a supportive community that can guide you through challenges and celebrate your successes.
