Daily Inspiration: Meet Raxiel Liz

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Raxiel Liz.

Raxiel Liz

Hi Raxiel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, where my love for music originated.

I had an older brother who was killed when I was 14, and he was extremely heavy into all types of music. After his passing, I went through his music collection and started listening and understanding why he was so into it. Music ranges from Hip Hop (LLcool J, Rakim, KRS One) and Reggae (Mad Lion, Shabba, Buji Bonton, etc.) down to Pop music, Hispanic music, and all.

After a while, I started finding myself really drawn to Hip Hop music and started to freestyle how I felt over certain songs, and that is what started my passion for music. Alongside music, I was always heavy into film. The art of filmmaking has always been a calling for me. I want to make a long story, not so long. Music and movies became my thing from the start.

As I got older, I started looking into studios, recording music, ghostwriting, making videos, and short films, all of which led to acting. Being a director was a skill I was working on, and I didn’t realize it since I was making my own films and all with the music videos.

My drive and passion for it all have landed me a “Latino Artist of the Year” award, roles in movies and TV shows, and a desire for telling stories in many forms that I even wrote a few books.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Let me tell you this… In no way, shape, or form has it been smooth! It was tough and still is, haha! For every accomplishment, there is another one that needs your attention. In this game (industry), you are only as good as the last thing you did. It’s always “Ok that’s done what’s next”.

I always tell people that if they don’t have thick skin or a passion that has a fire that cannot be put out, they should not go into this lifestyle and path. It can be beautiful and rewarding, but, at the same time, it can be trying and depressing if you allow it to be.

People love to talk about all the highlights… But trust me, when the lights are not high… They can be really low!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
Well, my name is “Raxiel Liz,” and I am an “Actor/Director/Author, and Artist.”

I am well known for my acting and directing. I have done music for a long time, but it became more popular as the acting picked up. My highlights in each one, well… In acting, I would say my highlight would be when I landed a role on “David Makes Man,” which aired on HBO and was produced by Oprah and Micheal B. Jordan. Plus, the fact that I got to meet them both was awesome!

Directing my highlight would have to be when I finished my 1st movie, “Mistakes and Monsters.” It’s a full-length film, and I was able to land it on Amazon and Tubi, plus many other platforms.

Music wise I have two hight lights. One was when one of my music videos landed on “World Star Hip Hop,” and the other was when I won “The Latin Artist of the Year” award.

As an Author, it has to be when I wrote and published my 1st book, “I Didn’t Know My Daughter was a Ninja.” It is in stores alongside my self-health book titled “Shut the F*ck Up and Love.”

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from growing up.
My mom… My childhood was rough and full of bullies, death, and trauma. If my mom wasn’t in the picture, I would have lost it.
