Today, we’d like to introduce you to Chnalie Galbart.
Hi Chnalie, we are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated with everything, beauty down to makeup, skincare, nails, beauty pageants, and so on. I would always watch YouTube videos when I was younger of women doing beauty-related things and always had a feeling that that’s what I would want to do in life.
After high school, I started doing makeup for anyone I could get my hands on. I would practice with friends and family to perfect my craft. My journey of being in the beauty industry officially started in 2020 when I attended Boca Beauty Academy to be a Full Esthetician to follow my dream. I discovered the art and fell in love with eyelash extensions by seeing one of my classmates practicing on a mannequin.
After graduating, I started my business, Glam by Nalie, in 2021, where I specialize in eyelash extensions and brows. Over the past 3 years, I have learned so much within this industry through trials and tribulations and have had the pleasure of connecting with so many beautiful individuals. After growing, I decided that I wanted to rebrand my business, which is now known as Glamure Oasis.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, the road was not so smooth at all. There were times when I would be so frustrated because I would do eyelash extensions or makeup and it didn’t turn out the way I envisioned. I used to take more than a few hours to complete a full set, whereas now I can complete them perfectly within 3 hours.
There was an incident when I first started where I took 2 days to complete a lash set because my back was hurting, lol. I would say some of the struggles I faced along the way are definitely perfecting my craft. Lashing has many variations regarding learning eye shape, curls, glues, humidity, the direction of hairs, placement, retention, and so on.
When starting, it was not easy, but over time has gotten way better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I am a Full Esthetician who specializes in beauty services such as eyelash extensions and brows. I am known for enhancing beauty and creating a safe and relaxing environment for my clients. I am most proud of everything I have accomplished up until this day.
Even having the opportunity to be featured in this magazine, I am so grateful. Sometimes I am always wrapped up in what’s next and forget to embrace how far I have come. I am proud of how my journey has built my character and has allowed me to create relationships with amazing people.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The advice I would give for finding a mentor is to do research. You want to find someone who has had experience so that they can teach you the ins and outs of the industry. I would also reach out to people who have worked with them and ask them for feedback.
For networking, the #1 key is to BE YOURSELF and connect with individuals not only on a business level but also on a personal level. Ask them questions about themselves to truly get to know them instead of being transactional. Doing this has worked well for me.
