Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sergio Gaitan, MD, FAAD.
Hi Sergio, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Sergio Gaitan, and I am a Board Certified Dermatologist practicing in Miami, FL. I was born and raised in Miami, in the West Kendall area. I went to the University of Florida and earned my degree in Chemical Engineering.
After that, I went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I then completed my dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Lastly, I returned home to practice Dermatology in Miami. I worked for two previous practices until I finally started my first-class dermatology office in West Kendall.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any road is smooth. The most important thing is that you keep pushing forward. When starting your own business, there will always be struggles. When I started Certified Cosmetics and Skin Care, I aimed to provide a first-class dermatology experience. My passion has always been cosmetic dermatology. The way I can make my patients feel after treatment is so rewarding.
I was at my first practice for about five years and was not growing in the cosmetic aspect, so I decided to move on to another practice. At my second practice, I was there for nine months. I was growing cosmetically, but there were too many limitations, and I could not get the materials and devices I needed to provide the best results. At Certified Cosmetics and Skin Care, I ensure we have all the top-of-the-line materials and devices so that our patients get the best results.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Cosmetic Dermatology. As a board-certified Dermatologist, I focus on skincare and skin rejuvenation. Being a dermatologist, I have a deep understanding of the skin, and I know what it takes to get consistent results. Most importantly, I can diagnose your skin for any conditions. This ensures you don’t get unnecessary skin care treatments that may have no effect, or even worse cause harm.
I am known for delivering natural results. Whether it be with Botox or Dermal Fillers, my patients only look younger and not like they have had work done. For instance, with Botox, I use my special technique called Precision Botox. It focuses on delivering natural results by taking the stress off the skin. It gives the skin a beautiful glow and leads to long-term skin rejuvenation. I have heard multiple times from my patients that it’s the best Botox they have ever gotten.
When it comes to dermal fillers, many patients are scared of treatments.This is where I use my engineering background to always deliver natural results. My technique is called Facial Sculpting. I use the filler to support your facial ligaments and not fill space. This leads to a natural, more youthful look.
I always take a long-term approach to my patients. That is why I don’t freeze my patients with Botox. In the long term, freezing leads to muscle atrophy which leads to sagging. When it comes to dermal filler, I don’t just fill. The problem is laxity and volume loss. Filling spaces leads to a temporary solution but then worsens the problem of laxity in the long run as the filler can build up. By using the filler as support it lasts longer and always delivers a natural result.
I am most proud of designing exclusive treatments available for our patients. Realizing that the major issue with aging is laxity, I developed our unique laser microneedling facial treatment. It is one step ahead of the popular RF Microneedling procedure. However, RF technology just delivers bulk heat to the tissue, so the results are inconsistent. In our treatment the energy source is a laser, which is a form of very specific targeted energy providing consistent results. In addition, our treatment has minimal to no pain. We achieve this by separating the energy from the microneedling to make the treatments less painful and have less downtime. Best of all it is safe for all skin types.
What sets me apart in the aesthetic world I believe is my artistic eye and my ability to apply engineering principles to cosmetic treatments. When choosing a provider, I always recommend looking at before and afters. As a trustworthy doctor, I never alter my before and afters because I want to set realistic patient expectations. Next, I recommend doing your research and checking their credentials. As these cosmetic treatments are medical procedures. Most importantly, by applying engineering principles it has allowed me to deliver consistent results and design cutting-edge treatments.

Happiness is the most important thing and what life is all about. What makes me happy is being healthy and having the love of my family and patients. I am blessed to have this gift that allows me to make people feel better about themselves. I am very grateful for my family and patients who have trusted me with their skin.
